It is with great pleasure that we announce the Conference on Liver Disease in Africa 2018, which will be held from 13th-15th September in Nairobi, Kenya!
Organized by Virology Education in close collaboration with local societies, COLDA 2018, aims at empowering local liver experts to prevent, treat and achieve cure for liver diseases to the benefit of patients in Africa.
As the 1st COLDA, it creates a platform that provides a unique opportunity for clinicians, researchers, policy makers, industry and other healthcare professionals in the African region to gain support from the international community of experts. COLDA aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on the latest clinical developments and updates on ongoing and new trials in the field of liver diseases tailored to the local needs.
We aim at providing you with a highly scientific and educational abstract- driven conference consisting of key note speeches, state-of-the-art lectures, oral and poster abstract presentations, round table discussion, case presentations, debates and ample time for discussion.
We are certain that the conference will act as a catalyst for translating science into clinical practice while promoting medical education in the field of liver diseases and setting up collaborations within the African region. Everyone will have an exceptional opportunity to share and acquire knowledge and experience in a wide spectrum of topics that are related to liver disease.

For purposes of review and programming, abstracts are divided into topical categories. Selection of the most appropriate category is important as it determines who reviews your abstract. The Program Committee reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a more appropriate category. Abstracts will be accepted either for oral or poster presentation.
Abstracts can be submitted under the following categories:
Viral Hepatitis Infections
Non-viral Hepatitis Related Infections
Non-infectious Induced Liver Disease
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
End-stage Liver Disease
Abstracts should contain the following four components:
- Background: a concise statement of the issue under investigation or a hypothesis;
- Materials & Methods: the experimental methods used (including the statistical analyses employed);
- Results: specific findings (promises such as "to be completed" or "to be presented" are not acceptable);
- Conclusions: a summary of findings that are supported by your results (statistical analyses used to support the conclusions, where appropriate, should be included; concluding statements such as "the results will be discussed" are not acceptable).
Please note: that abstracts cannot be accepted if tables, graphs, grant acknowledgements or literature references are included.
The maximum word count for the abstract body is 500 words.
Abstracts are considered official communications to the conference and will be treated confidentially. For abstracts that are accepted, submitters agree to attend the meeting and present their abstract as scheduled.
Authors can submit their abstracts electronically using the button "Abstract Submission" which will be placed soon. You will be redirected to the submission website. Please follow the step-by-step directions, which will enable you to upload the abstract.
To ensure your abstract retains any special characters or formatting, the abstract must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
We are pleased to offer free registration to young investigators with an accepted abstract and a 50% discount on the registration fee for young investigators without an accepted abstract.
