Welcome from the ERS President
Guy Joos 2016 250wThe 27th International Congress of the European Respiratory Society will be hosted in Milan for the first time this year.
As ERS President, I am proud to welcome you to the world's largest meeting in the respiratory world.
The Chairs of the Scientific and Educational Councils, together with all our Officers, are working hard to bring you a programme that addresses the needs of all respiratory professionals, from scientists to clinicians and allied health professionals. I am confident that the 2017 programme will stimulate debate and shed new light on advances in the field.
Alongside the programme, the Congress provides the perfect opportunity for our members and other delegates to network with peers from across the world. Knowledge is deepened when it is shared and by meeting together, discussing experiences and debating varying approaches to key topics, we can work towards a better future for respiratory health.
I look forward to welcoming you to Milan for the most exciting event in the respiratory calendar.
Professor Guy Joos

All submitted abstracts are reviewed anonymously based on scientific strength, methodology and the data provided, in addition to the novelty and originality of the findings.
Make sure your abstract is finalised as it cannot be modified after the submission deadline. ERS suggests that you ask your peers to proofread it to ensure there are no errors. A good abstract is not only based on its content, as the message also needs to be clear and well communicated.
Instructions for online submission and guide on "How to write an abstract"
We are also offering an online educational course to provide expert advice to young researchers who are preparing abstracts and presentations for the ERS International Congress or any other scientific conference. Find out more and register for the 'Prepare Your Congress Contribution' course.
The best abstracts are accepted for the abstract sessions and will be presented as oral presentations, thematic posters and poster discussions.
