Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to the 3rd SingHealth Duke-NUS Education Conference taking place from the 29th to 30th September 2017 at Academia. This Education Conference is the fruition of collaborative efforts between our various institutions.

The embryo of medical education in Singapore began at the Singapore General Hospital campus more than a century ago. SingHealth’s rich legacy in healthcare education, together with its various specialty centres and our strategic partner, Duke-NUS Medical School, form a vibrant and dynamic healthcare education landscape. This biennial landmark event brings together thought leaders, academic and healthcare educators as well as healthcare professionals-in-training.

The theme of this conference is aptly named "Best Practices in Health Professions Education – Challenges and Opportunities". We hope to span all major aspects of healthcare education, with an emphasis on interprofessional practice and collaborations, simulation training, faculty development and teaching methodologies. The programme promises to feature a dynamic line-up of distinguished overseas and local speakers, as well as residents and trainees to share on their teaching and learning perspectives.

This year, we are excited to invite you to contribute and help shape the Conference programme and its direction based on the theme. You can do so by proposing topics that you are keen to present at the Conference, submit an abstract of your education research or share your stories on teaching and learning. We encourage both pre- and post- conference workshops. In sharing, we hope that the Conference will encourage stimulating discussions and the cross-fertilisation of ideas. We urge you to respond to our Call for Proposals and Call for Abstracts, which will end in April and June 2017 respectively.

Whether you are an educator or a learner, we have no doubt that the Conference will challenge your thinking and inspire your passion for teaching, so as to raise our healthcare education standards to always provide excellent patient care. We hope that you can look forward to valuable networking opportunities with like-minded educators, gain new insights, inspiration and strategies for better learning outcomes.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we look forward to seeing you in Singapore at this exciting conference in September 2017!
