Speakers/Faculty:

John A. Boswick was born and educated in Illinois. He received his medical education at Loyola University in Chicago, and graduated with both a Master of Arts Degree in Anatomy and M.D. degree. After his residency at Cook County Hospital, Dr. Boswick advanced academically to Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University, Director of Surgical Services, and Director of the Sumner Koch Burn Center, and Hand Surgery Service at Cook County Hospital.


In 1972, Dr. Boswick and his family moved to Denver Colorado, where he became Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado. Aside from his academic responsibilities, Dr. Boswick served the American Burn Association as its seventh President, and was also an officer of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He was a consultant for the United States Army, the World Health Organization, and served as Secretary General of the International Society for Burn Injuries. He authored more than 100 articles and chapters in surgical journals and edited several books on the art and science of burn care.


Dr. Boswick will be missed but not forgotten, as his name and legacy to the care of the sick and injured are memorialized through the Tanner-Boswick-Vandeput prize of the International Society for Burn Injuries.

General Info:

The registration fee covers the program, participation in scientific sessions, continental breakfast, and coffee breaks. The fee also includes participation in the Welcome Reception, Poster Presentation Reception and Symposium Sunset Cocktail and Evening Reception.  During Early Bird Registration, the fee is $650.00 for physicians ($750 after 8/31/17) and $550.00 ($650 after 8/31/17) for non-physicians, i.e. RN, OT, PT and students. Guest tickets (required) for all of the events are $250.00.  Children 12 and under are free.

Hotel Registration Information

Attendees and exhibitors MUST register for the meeting before booking their hotel room.  After registration, a code will be emailed that provides access to the discounted resort rooms.  This is the only way to gain access to the hotel room block.  


A two-night room deposit by credit card is due to guarantee a reservation. The hotel will not hold any reservations without the deposit.


Individual Cancellation Policy: Cancellations within 30 days prior to arrival will be charged two one night’s room and tax charges.


There must be an email address to accompany the reservation, the same address cannot be used more than once. For multiple room reservation requests contact jacqmcbride@gmail.com


Deadline Date: The discounted conference rate will be available until the contracted room block sells out. Any reservation received after this date cannot be assured a room in their desired category OR the group rate.


Room Category Availability: Room categories are based on availability on the date the request is received. Should a category be sold out for the dates requested, your room reservations will automatically be confirmed in the next available category. Hotel reservations cannot be confirmed by phone.

Submission Info

Abstract submission for the 40th Annual JAB Maui Symposium will open on May 1.   All abstracts need to be submitted according to the instructions on this page.  All abstracts are peer reviewed and may be submitted as an oral presentation or as a poster presentation.  Abstracts are due by November 15, 2017.  No Abstracts will be accepted after this time. 


You will be notified if your abstract has been approved as a late submission by email.  All accepted abstracts will be published as part of the JAB meeting program and made available online.


All abstract presenters/speakers must register for the conference.


Abstracts must be submitted online in either Microsoft Word or PDF format, with the last name of the author and an abbreviated title of the abstract.  


No abstracts will be accepted via email.
