Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are very excited to invite you to the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2018, which will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden on 16-18 May 2018.
ESOC 2018 will build on the enormous success of the last three ESO Conferences and continue to be Europe's foremost forum for discussing and disseminating the latest standards and news on stroke management and care.
Over 1,800 abstracts were submitted at ESOC 2017 and at the large clinical trials session, results from 8 major RCTs have been presented. Our delegates have expressed their commitment: our third meeting in Prague attracted over 4,000 colleagues from 100 countries.
One of the highlights of the 2017 edition were the Allied Healthcare Sessions, which will be continued in 2018 in order to include all members of a dedicated stroke team to exchange their knowledge and know-how.
During ESOC 2017 we had chosen to partnership with our colleagues from the Chinese Stroke Association (CSA), as non-European Stroke Association. During ESOC 2018 we will partnership with our partner stroke society from India and design a dedicated European-Indian Stroke Session where common strategies and regional differences will be discussed.
The latest ESO-guidelines will continue to have a dedicated session in order to share them with our members for critical inputs and update the Stroke Community on the ESO Stroke Care Standards
In ESOC 2018 the “European Action Plan 2018-2030" will be presented building on the experience and the format of the previous Helsingborg Declarations. This document will be written by ESO in cooperation with the patient organisation Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE). Members of WHO Euro and the European Commission for Health & Food Safety will be involved in the draft of this document .
We are looking forward to welcoming you in the city of Gothenburg, located on the west coast of Sweden, at the outlet of the Göta river. Gothenburg, once the center of the Swedish ship-building industry, has turned into a diverse and lively city full of Swedish design, food and culture. Offering both land and sea, city and nature, cobbled streets and industrial buildings revived to modern galleries.
