Dear Members of the German Society of Endocrinology!
We cordially invite you to the 61st German Congress of Endocrinology in the beautiful city of Bonn.
The Sections, the DGE Academy and the Organizing Committee have put together a varied program that will range from continuing medical education and research to public discussion of socially controversial issues.
The topics that endocrinologists bring to us in health care, clinical research or basic research are of high societal relevance. Therefore, the main topics of our congress are articles on "Endocrinology and Society", "Metabolism, Obesity and Inflammation", as well as "New Guidelines". At the same time, "basic biochemical research", which has always been closely linked to endocrinology, will not be neglected.
We hope that this year's conference will not only serve as an exchange between researchers, clinicians and general practitioners, but also inform the general public about interesting endocrinological topics.
The German Congress of Endocrinology should be the central forum for training at the highest level and explaining and discussing new relevant guidelines. Therefore, the already traditionally offered training courses for practical doctors, a laboratory workshop, as well as meet-the-expert sessions of the DGE Academy take place again. The training for endocrinologists is also on the program as usual.
The symposia of the individual sections of the DGE will be structured in such a way that, in addition to the invited lectures, the same number of submitted conference contributions will be included. This should give young scientists the opportunity to present their outstanding work to a professionally demanding audience in a prominent position. In this spirit, we have also included the popular Flash Talks and the guided poster presentations back into the program.
Since a congress of the "coming together" lives, is enough time between the lectures and symposia available, in order to discuss or initiate collaboration projects with colleagues.
As a novelty in the program, there is an "Interprofessional Training in Clinical Pharmacology" aimed at both physicians and pharmacists in order to improve collaboration between the two academic health professionals. The event will be certified for both groups of participants, and we hope to have created a new, attractive offer, which we strongly recommend to you.
As a special service for our members, the first part of the course on the "Osteologists DVO" will take place after the congress in Bonn for the first time.
It was important to us to create an appealing offer for the population in the former capital city of Bonn, which reflects the thematic bandwidth and societal relevance of endocrinology. Therefore, two public evening events will address the difficult issues of "doping" and "social freezing". Who, if not us endocrinologists, can contribute solid information here?
We would like to point out that diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis and thyroid disorders affect a large number of people in the population and affect their daily lives. Therefore, after the scientific program on Saturday, the patient day will give interested lay people and patients the opportunity to get information from us.
Bonn as the venue of the 61st German Congress of Endocrinology invites you to linger with its mild climate, interesting downtown and the nearby Rhine. The journey to Bonn is easy. Three airports can be reached in less than an hour by public transport and several ICE routes lead to the federal city. The venue in the main building of the university / castle is located in Bonn city center with subway and bus connections. With the public transport ticket included in the hotel booking your own car should simply be superfluous.
We look forward to your participation and to welcoming you in March 2018 in Bonn!

President of the Conference
