The 5th International Child and Family Behavioral Health Conference was marked as one of the most successful and productive events in the region in 2017 with participation from world renowned psychiatric institutions including the American Academy for child and adolescent psychiatry, University of Chicago and the Maudsley institute of London.

The theme for the conference in 2018 will be mental illness from childhood to adulthood with equal distribution of lectures and workshops between child, adolescent and adult activities.

A comprehensive three day conference has been prepared through a combined collective effort by the members of the scientific committee, who furthermore have secured participation of world class scientists, renowned teaching faculty, thought leaders, academics, health practitioners, and stakeholders in a wide range of fields and disciplines to encourage exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices in the arena of child and adult behavioral health.

The conference presents high-level scientific content with major updates and state of the art lectures in the treatment and management of children and adults with mental and behavioral health disorders. There would be workshops to train examiners for the Arab Board, workshops to prepare candidates who will be taking the Arab Board’s in general psychiatry and this year, we will be offering a full day of intensive research training for junior psychiatrists and senior residents who are interested in pursuing a career in academic research.

We will continue to offer one full track of new research in both English and Arabic.

We bring you a neutral interface with the industry in order to present the latest available therapeutics and technology that will help you provide the best possible care for your patients.

The program will allow ample opportunities for participants to connect with each other and discuss various behavioral health disorders across the region.

Editorial Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Language:

All submitted abstracts must be in English

Author(s):

The content of the abstract is solely the responsibility of the author. The original abstract is reprinted exactly as provided. During submission, it must clearly indicate the name of the presenting author, who will be considered the contact person for all correspondence connected with the submitted abstract.

All submitted abstracts need to have the names and surnames of all co-authors, along with their positions in their affiliated institutions.

Length:

Posters: The limit for the poster abstract is 2800 characters. If tables are included, each table removes 320 characters from your character limit.

Orals: The limit for the oral abstract is 500 characters.

Title:

An abstract must have a short, specific title (no abbreviations) that clearly indicates the nature of the investigation. It is encouraged that the title is set so as to attract the audience and to hint to the conclusion of the investigation.

Content:

A well-written abstract typically has the following identified sections:

Background/objectives: a brief introduction, which states the problem that you are addressing as well as some background information on the issue. The introduction of the poster abstract should include a very brief background 1-2 statements followed by the objectives of the investigation.

Design and methods: the methodologies, number of test subjects and scientific approach used to conduct the research.

Results: it is expected that authors present data that support their conclusion. Tables and graphs should include explanatory captions.

Conclusions: further areas of research and overall conclusion of the research

Citation: a reference list and acknowledgements

Tips in writing your abstract:

Make the title dynamic and conclusive, rather than descriptive.

Identify your submission category carefully to assure proper consideration.

Use generic names. Use trade names only when necessary.

Avoid beginning sentences with numerals.

Standard abbreviations may be used without definition. Nonstandard abbreviations should be placed in parentheses after the first use of the word or phrase abbreviated.

No references, credits or grant support should be included in the abstract.

No identifying information about patients participating in a study or trial should be used.

All abbreviations must be defined before being used as an abbreviation in the text.

Proofread abstracts carefully to avoid errors before submission. No corrections will be allowed or made once the abstract has been submitted.
