On behalf of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA), we are pleased to announce the 9th ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting. ISHA 2017 to be held in Santiago, Chile, from the 12th-to 14th October 2017. We are particularly excited by the 2017 venue, where you will have the opportunity to visit this outstandingly beautiful city.
The ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting provides a unique international forum for attendees to share scientific information and learn about the latest advances of arthroscopic and open surgery for hip preservation. The two and a half day meeting will include a variety of symposia, lectures and paper presentations. In addition, a Trainee Presentation Prize, lunchtime surgical skills sessions, electronic posters, technical exhibits, and a Welcome Reception will also be offered.
On behalf of the ISHA Board, you are invited to submit scientific abstracts online from May 1st to July 1st, 2017. Abstracts will be considered for podium and/or electronic poster presentations.
Judged by an ISHA-selected panel, the 2017 Trainee Prizes will be awarded to the Orthopaedic trainee who delivers the best presentation in clinical science and basic sciences. Finalists for the prize will be selected based on their abstract and invited to present during the scientific session. This prize, of US $600 for ISHA menbers, will be awarded at the 2017 ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting.

THE PROGRAMME COMMITTEE INVITES TO SUBMIT IN THE FOLLOWING PRESENTATION CATEGORIES:
Abstracts may be on any topic related to hip arthroscopy or hip preservation surgery. Abstracts should be written in English, limited to 300 words and submitted on-line, through this portal. All abstracts submitted for podium presentations will be also be considered for poster presentation.

ONLINE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Suggested abstract categories are:
Financial considerations in hip arthroscopy and preservation – economic impact of preservation and impairment on the individual and society
Open hip preservation surgery
Anatomy and biomechanics of the hip
Diagnosis of hip related problems
Rehab and recovery
Future strategies and direction of biologics
Hip and spine relationships
Outcomes of conservative, arthroscopic and open hip techniques
Authors need to have the following information readily available when submitting an abstract:
Complete contact information for the Presenting author including the institution of research.
Provide the abstract title in proper case for publishing.
Submit the abstract text as plain text into a text box located in the online application. Please note, graphics and tables are not accepted.
Complete the Financial Disclosure Statement and Copyright License Agreement on behalf of all authors.
Author warranty: authors must read and abide by the guidelines below in order to be considered for presentation.
The same First Author may submit a maximum of six abstracts for consideration to the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting 2017. Authors do not have to be ISHA members to submit an abstract.
Abstracts are only accepted for consideration via the online abstract application form. Abstracts submitted to the ISHA Program Office in any other fashion will not be considered for presentation.
The deadline for submission is 7st July, 2017 at 11:59 P.M. (Chile) Abstracts will not be accepted after that date.
If the abstract is accepted for podium presentation, all presenters must present in English, and be prepared to answer questions from the audience in English.
Please indicate the preference of presentation method for the submitted abstract: podium or poster (e-poster) presentation. The ISHA Program Committee will make final decisions on the mode of presentation; however, efforts will be made to comply with the stated preference.
All presenters, co-authors, faculty members, etc. who will attend the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting 2017 are expected to register for the meeting and pay all registration and travel costs. No exceptions are made. If attendance depends on outside funding, please secure financial assistance before submitting an abstract.
Persons submitting an abstract to ISHA must complete a Financial Disclosure Statement.
Although ISHA is an international society, it receives continuing medical education accreditation and is planned and implemented with the essential areas and policies of the EACCME). ISHA does not view the existence of disclosed interest or investments as necessarily implying bias or decreasing the value of the presentation. These disclosures will not be seen or taken into consideration when the abstract is considered for presentation.
Persons submitting an abstract to ISHA must complete a Copyright License Agreement so the chosen abstracts can be published in the ISHA final program, in the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting 2017 proceedings, and on the ISHA website.
Abstract Review will be based on the following criteria:
Scientific Merit (0 – 6)
Is the problem clearly stated?
Are the statistics sound?
Are there adequate numbers of subjects?
How is the methodology (are there controls, is this prospective vs. retrospective)?
Is the abstract clear / well written and are the results clear?
Are the conclusions supported by the results?
Originality of project (0-2)
Clinical Usefulness (0-2)
Level of Interest to ISHA Members (0-2)

The International Society for Hip Arthroscopy Trainee Awards Program is committed to recognizing and honoring young researchers whose work has contributed to better understanding and communication within the field of Hip Arthroscopy.
Two Awards are being offered at the 2017 ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting in Santiago, Chile – the ISHA Trainee Basic Research Award and the Richard Villar Trainee Excellence in Clinical Research Award.
Applicants should currently be orthopaedic trainees, residents or fellows OR have completed their training after June 2017. No applicant should have held a consultant orthopaedic surgeon post (locum, substantive or honorary) prior to June 30, 2017. Applicants please note: submissions are limited to one submission per individual.
All submissions will be automatically considered for both the ISHA Trainee Basic Research Award and the Richard Villar Trainee Excellence in Clinical Research Award. To be considered for the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting Awards, applications must be submitted before 7st July 2017.
2017 ISHA TRAINEE BASIC RESEARCH AWARD
The ISHA Trainee Basic Research Award was created with the intention to stimulate and reward younger researchers who contribute high-quality data and presentations. Residents and fellows, with a study related to hip arthroscopy are encouraged to apply for this award. Judged by an ISHA-selected panel, the 2017 Trainee Basic Science Award will be awarded to the trainee who delivers the best presentation during the Annual Scientific Meeting. Finalists for the prize will be selected based on their abstract submission and will be invited to present during the meeting ( final timings will be communicated). A monetary prize will be awarded at the 2017 ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting.
RICHARD VILLAR TRAINEE EXCELLENCE IN CLINICAL RESEARCH AWARD
The Richard Villar Trainee Excellence in Clinical Research Award was created with the intention to stimulate and reward younger researchers who contribute high-quality data and presentations. Judged by an ISHA-selected panel, the Richard Villar Trainee Excellence in Clinical Research Award will be awarded to the trainee who delivers the best presentation during the Annual Scientific Meeting. Finalists for the prize will be selected based on their abstract submission and will be invited to present during the meeting – final timings will be communicated. A monetary prize will be awarded at the 2017 ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting.
Criteria for entry
Submissions and Presentations must be in the English language.
Applicants should currently be orthopaedic trainees, residents or fellows OR have completed their training after June 2017. No applicant should have held a consultant orthopaedic surgeon post (locum, substantive or honorary) prior to June 30, 2017.
Applicants should have been an active author or co-author of the work presented and has obtained the permission of all co-authors to compete for this prize.
Finalists will be expected to register for the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting 2017
Presenter must be the trainee applicant

Applicants may only submit one abstract to be considered for both Awards.
Abstracts submitted to the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting Awards which are not selected as finalists will be considered for inclusion in the Annual Meeting program.
Finalists for the Trainee Presentation Prize will be advised by 1st September, 2017 and full presentation details will be provided at that time.
Six Finalists will be chosen to present during the scientific session at the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting in Santiago, Chile . Finalists will be invited to give a 7 minute presentation judged by an ISHA-selected panel based on the following five criteria:
Originality of research presented (30 points)
Quality of oratory (30 points)
Quality of audiovisual aids (20 points)
Time-keeping (10 points)
Question-handling (10 points)
Of the six finalists, one winner for the ISHA Trainee Basic Science Award and the Richard Villar Trainee Excellence in Clinical Research Award will be chosen.
NEW AT ISHA 2017 – ISHA PHYSIOTHERAPIST AWARD
An award will be awarded to the best physiotherapy research submission. The top 5 authors will be asked to present at the conference, where each project will be rated by a panel. The award will be presented on Friday during the PT sessions.
