Foundations of Minimal Access Surgery is organized by Clinical Training & Evaluation Centre (CTEC) and would be held on Oct 27, 2017 at CTEC, Perth, Western Australia, Australia. 


Foundations of Minimal Access Surgery Workshop provides participants with the opportunity to learn skills in minimal access surgery in a dynamic teaching environment. The highly interactive workshop features case discussion with demonstration videos, discussions and demonstrations on laparoscopic suturing models. The program allows sufficient time for practising skills. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have gained knowledge and familiarity with the physiology, basic techniques and technical skills required for minimal access surgery. This will enable them to effectively assist on laparoscopic surgeries when they return to their hospital setting. 


Workshop Content :


The workshop focuses on the following areas:


• Overview on laparoscopic equipment and set-up

• Trouble shooting

• Visual axis of laparoscopic ergonomics

• Patient positioning

• Pre and post-procedure practical skills assessment 


Demonstration and Practical Stations:


• Entry techniques

• Trocar placement

• Skills exercise using elastic bands / gloves / bolts and sugar cubes

• Electrosurgery / hook diathermy

• Knot tying single handed

• Two handed / instrument

• Endoloops

• Closing ports
