Dan Panorama Hotel *

Tel Aviv, ISRAEL
The Dan Panorama Hotel offers easy access to everywhere you want to be. Across the street is the Mediterranean sea and within minutes you find yourself on an inviting sandy beach with warm and clear waters. For a truly Mediterranean experience, explore the Carmel market - one of the largest open markets in Israel that has a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as meats, fish and baked goods. Also nearby is the Neve Tzedek neighborhood which was the first Jewish neighborhood built outside of the walls of Jaffa. Neve Tzedek has a village feel to it, filled with small alleyways and boutique stores to peruse. A leisurely stroll along the waterfront promenade to the north will lead you to the Tel-Aviv Port. The Port is the city’s newest entrainment hub and has outstanding restaurants, shops and nightclubs. The promenade to the south will take you to Jaffa which is famous for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon, and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus. Its ancient port has been in use since the Bronze Age and you can still watch the fishermen going out to sea.

Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleague,

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the first International Diabesity and Metabolic Surgery Summit that will be held, November 28-30, 2018 in the beautiful city of Tel Aviv, Israel.  As you I am sure are well aware, Diabetes and Obesity are related diseases that result in significant morbidity and mortality.

Once considered afflictions of the developed world, they have become twin endemics through out the world and across all cultures and economic conditions.  The cost to care for patients who suffer from obesity, diabetes or both is sobering.

At present, bariatric (weight loss) surgery has been demonstrated to be the most effective treatment option that can dramatically improve both metabolic disorders (as well as several other metabolic diseases). It has been observed over many decades, that bariatric surgical procedures reduced patient weight and improved metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus involving mechanisms of action other than calorie restriction or malabsorption.  Additionally, the improvement observed in the metabolic diseases is in part, independent of weight loss.  Therefore, a better understanding of the mechanisms of action of these procedures enables us to investigate the full potential enable us to create even more effective treatments and procedures, vital to controlling the Diabesity pandemic.

The focus of our forthcoming IDMSS 2018 will be the prevalent rapid increase in the relationship between Metabolic surgery, Obesity and Diabetes type 2 and their associated complications.

This Summit is therefore vital to increase the international knowledge of these procedures and stimulate the investigation and development of new and more effective treatments.  The Summit will bring together many of the world experts in the fields of metabolic surgery and medicine.  A wide range of related topics will be presented, discussed and debated.  The range and scope of the program are a must for all clinicians caring for patients suffering from metabolic diseases.

The Summit includes didactic state-of-the-art presentations, debates, panel discussions, and a best paper presentation contest.  There will also be ample time to interact with the faculty and the industry partners with interest in metabolic procedures.

It is only fitting to hold such a high-tech conference in a country known for innovation and creating new technologies.

In addition, Tel-Aviv is a busy metropolis, which invigorates its visitors with a unique energetic atmosphere, exotic markets, nonstop active nightlife, golden beaches and restaurants. Tel-Aviv is also the country's cultural center, a home for a wide variety of museums, galleries, theatres and concert halls. Tel-Aviv is located in the center of the country.  It is easy to get to from Ben Gurion Airport and less than an hour from Jerusalem.  Participants will be encouraged to spend a few extra days in Israel to travel and sightsee.

Please join us for this unique conference.
