Welcome message:

This one-week annual course provides a thorough grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of nuclear cardiology. The course is suitable for all professionals involved in using or delivering a nuclear cardiology service, whether medical, nursing or technical. It is particularly suitable for specialty trainees wishing to gain basic experience in nuclear cardiology and for those wishing to progress to independent reporting.


Learning outcomes

Understand the basic principles of radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging (MPS) including properties of radiopharmaceuticals, indications of cardiovascular stress, image processing and interpretation 

Appreciate the diagnostic and prognostic value of MPS in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease

Identify normal vs. abnormal patterns of myocardial perfusion and markers of adverse prognosis on MPS 

Describe the current role of cardiovascular PET imaging as well as the contribution of alternative imaging techniques to the assessment of patients with heart disease

Target audience

This course is particularly suitable for specialty trainees wishing to gain basic experience in nuclear cardiology and for those wishing to progress to independent reporting.
