Be able to describe the anatomy of the skull base and list some of the common pathologies that are treated
Understand the evolution of treatment and the indications for open and endoscopic surgery
List the possible complications of this surgery and the methods of treating the complications
why should you attend?
This is a subspecialty that is interdisciplinary, involving maxillofacial, ENT, occuloplastics, plastics and neurosurgery together with interventional radiology and oncology.
It is a specialty that few trainees and consultants have any experience of. However it is a specialty that has evolved and can treat many pathologies. It is important that all doctors are aware of it’s existence and how patients are treated.
who should attend?
This day should appeal to all those interested in head and neck, neurosurgery, plastics, ENT and maxillofacial surgery. It is also of interest to GPs, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and medical students.
It should also be targeted at those junior doctors who are considering broadening their knowledge, or considering this type of specialty.
