Event Overview
Welcome message:

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of 1M-WCSEM2014, I extend a warm welcome to all sports & exercise medicine professionals and the general community, to join us in this world congress in Sports & Exercise Medicine, which is being held from 26-30th August, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. This event is also being held in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia year 2014 and the Merdeka celebrations. We welcome foreign participants to stay back to witness the most spectacular and colorful celebrations of Merdeka-our Independence Day celebrations on the 31st August.

Since 2010, this vision of the Society of Sports & Exercise Medicine Malaysia (SSEMM) is ever expanding beyond our imagination, as there is a great need for knowledge/research based technology in this field to enhance the importance of Sports & Exercise Medicine.

The SSEMM has made a quantum leap to organize the 1M-WCSEM2014 which is a first in these regions. Our vision is to emphasize the interdisciplinary topics that highlight the integrative nature of contemporary research in exercise and sports medicine for the benefit of athletes and the community in general. It is also a significant indication of the capacity for sports & athletic endeavors to unite all the people in the common pursuit of peaceful competitive excellence. The Universal appeal and importance of Athletes and the field of sports & exercise medicine, justly reflects the theme of this 1M-WCSEM2014, which speakers of the world wide commitment of this congress and its potential to inspire many different people all over the world.

In conjunction with this congress, we are bringing in two world class pre-congress courses like the Advanced Emergencies in Sports Medicine by world class Olympic professionals from University of Norway and the “The Instructors course” by FIMS. To create awareness to the common community, we propose to organize the 'National Community Exercise Program by inviting groups from all ministries, and government bodies to attend this program of how to exercise in the right way. This is to create the awareness of proper exercise among the obese, diabetics, hypertensive, cardiac cases and also, to help prevent preventable injuries among all people and in particular, the handicapped athletes. I am currently working out this handicapped program with University of São Paulo and the University of Bath, UK.

I take this opportunity to thank all our members of the organizing committee and others, who stood by to realize this vision of organizing the 1M-WCSEM2014 event - a First for Malaysia, by the Malaysians. Malaysia Boleh!
