Abstracts need to be submitted by the presenting author only via the online submission portal by the deadline of 1, June, 2018 (23:59, AEST). Abstracts submitted by post, fax or email will not be considered.
The submitting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission. It is requested that the presenting author is also the submitting author.
Submission of an abstract automatically implies acknowledgement of the submitting author that the work described was conducted in accordance with current ethical standards and regulations in medical research.
Abstracts should be submitted and presented in English.
Changes to an abstract will not be permitted once the submission deadline has passed.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee. Abstracts which include ethical concerns, do not meet scientific standards or include work not sufficiently relevant for FTD can be rejected. Notification regarding abstract acceptance and scheduling will be sent to the submitting author by email.
All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published online on the Conference website prior to the Conference as well as in the Conference App and published online
A minimum of one-day meeting registration is required for the presenting author. Please note that the presenting author is not automatically registered by submitting an abstract.
All presenters must be registered by 6, August 2018. Any presenters not registered by this date will not be allowed to present at the conference.
Content and Format
Abstracts must be allocated to a specific category. Please select the category from the list below that best matches the focus of your study. This will be used to organise the abstracts for the purpose of review and presentation. However, the reviewers may assign the abstract to a different category that they feel is more appropriate.
Blood and imaging biomarkers
CBS, PSP, MND
Mechanisms of cell death
Social cognition and behaviour
Treatment (pharmacological / non-pharmacological)
The abstract text must not contain more than 1800 characters without spaces (~ 300 words) and should be a single paragraph without section headings.
No tables or images are allowed in the abstract.
If references are essential, they should be within the text using the format: (Murphy et al. BJU Int 2005; 95 27-30).
Required authors’ details:
First and presenting author: full first and family name, affiliation details (institution/city/country) - Details such as email and postal address will need requested in the abstract portal
IMPORTANT NOTE: The submitting author must be the presenting author.
Co-authors: full first and family name, affiliation details (institution/city/country)
Types of presentations: most accepted abstracts will be presented as posters. However, a small number will be selected by the reviewers for oral presentation or Data Blitz presentation (2 min talk plus poster) during the Scientific Sessions. Please indicate at the time of submission if you are willing to have your abstract considered for oral presentation or Data Blitz presentation.
Abstracts must only be uploaded in a word document only.
The abstract recommended template can be downloaded here to be used as a guide. If you are unsure about the layout of your abstract, please contact the ICFTD secretariat.
Submitted abstracts can be edited any time prior to submission deadline on Friday, 1 June 2018.
Data Blitz Presentation
Most sessions at the ICFTD 2018 will end with Data Blitz presentations, where selected poster presenters will be given 2 minutes as oral presentation to advertise their work and to entice delegates to visit their poster presentation.
This type of presentations will offer a fast-paced overview of some of the most exciting research presented at this year’s poster sessions.
The goal of the Data Blitz presentation should NOT be to present complete data, but to advertise one’s work and to entice delegates to visit their poster presentation for further discussions.
Given the strict time limitation for the Data Blitz, presenters should prepare NO MORE THAN THREE PowerPoint slides. Therefore, some presenters may either select one major result of their study or some may elect to introduce their study and methods only, and encourage others to visit their poster to discover and discuss the results.
Within the abstract submission process authors will have the option to indicate whether they would like their abstract to be considered for a Data Blitz presentation
