It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 11th International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) Meeting which will be held in Busan, South Korea, June 12 - 16, 2016. The Meeting Organizing Committee is committed to hosting the scientific must attend event of 2016, with a broad range of highly relevant short courses, symposia and poster presentations; as well as a lively social calendar of networking events and sightseeing activities.
The 11th ISSX Meeting will showcase important research highlighting ADME in new drug development within the theme of "The Science of Xenobiotics in the Era of Personalized Medicine.” Those involved at any level in the metabolism and disposition of drugs and other chemicals will benefit from attendance. The relaxed and friendly environment will offer both a professionally and personally rewarding experience, allowing for dialogue and exchange of scientific expertise among the world’s leading experts in drug/xenobiotic research.
The 11th ISSX Meeting will be held at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) which is a world-class convention facility located in the heart of the stunning Haeundae Beach Resort area. The 5 star Paradise Hotel is the meeting’s official headquarters hotel. It has a modern interior, up-to-date amenities, and ocean front terraces embracing beautiful views of the harbor–making it the obvious choice for our meeting delegates.
Busan is Korea’s second largest city. It is a port city with exquisite beaches and an abundance of fresh seafood. It is also rich in culture and history, with the UN Memorial Cemetery, various temples, many colorful markets and sightseeing attractions including the world’s largest department store! First time visitors to Busan are usually surprised by how the locals have managed to capture the essence of a buzzing metropolis but retain the hospitality of a country town.
We welcome you to beautiful ‘Dynamic Busan’ and look forward to your active participation in the 11th International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) Meeting in 2016. Thank you for your support.
See you in June 2016!

When it comes to hosting international meetings, incentive tours, conventions, and exhibitions, BEXCO boasts not only impressive infrastructures but also comprehensive resources to help your organization achieve success in Busan
Poster presentations are an integral component of ISSX meetings. We encourage all those involved in the fields of metabolism, pharmacology, toxicology, molecular biology and other related disciplines to consider submitting an abstract for a poster presentation at the 11th International ISSX Meeting to be held in Busan, Korea from June 12 – 16, 2016. Please read all of the information contained on this page before clicking on the abstract submission button below.
It is a requirement that at least one author named in the abstract be a current, paid ISSX member. To obtain a login or to join ISSX, please complete the membership application at www.issx.org/membership. To renew your membership, please visit www.issx.org/renew.
Abstract Submission Deadline: February 1, 2016 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (3:59 AM, Greenwich Mean Time [GMT])
Call for Abstracts
General Abstract Submissions: This is open for all abstracts for poster presentation at the meeting.
Poster Awards Competition: Open to predoctoral (graduate students) and postdoctoral fellows, this submission category is your opportunity to compete cash prizes and special recognition at the meeting. Six finalists from both categories will be selected to present their posters during a special poster viewing session at the meeting. First, second, and third place awards will be presented at the Poster Competition Awards Presentation session held during the meeting.
Please note: If your abstract is not accepted for the Poster Awards Competition, it will then be reviewed as a general submission. You do not need to submit an abstract more than once.
By submitting an abstract for the meeting, you confirm that if your abstract is accepted, you will attend the 11th International ISSX Meeting in Busan, Korea from June 12 – 16, 2016.
Authors: Please provide all required information for the presenting author including a valid email address. A presenter must be identified in order for abstracts to be considered. Please enter all additional authors in the order they should appear in the program. The abstract submission form will guide you through the process of entering the author(s) information. Do not include the author information in the body of the abstract. At least one author listed must be either a member of ISSX.
For each submission, author must select an Abstract Topic (e.g. primary keyword), provide complete presenter contact information, and include the abstract text. Please type the abstract title using ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS. Submissions must have a title to be considered for the conference program. All abstracts must be in English - the official language of the 11th International ISSX Meeting.
Abstract Body: The abstract text should be typed single-spaced and may not exceed 500 words (350 to 400 words is preferred). Type the text as one paragraph. All references included in the text should be numbered and accompanied by the full citation, including author’s names, title, journal name, volume, number, inclusive paging, and year of publication.
Abstract Content: Abstracts must describe previously unpublished work. Abstracts previously published for other domestic or international meetings cannot be accepted. If the abstract is about metabolism/disposition/mode of action of the compound, then the chemical name or a partial structure must be included. If the compound causes a well-characterized biological response that is independent of structure (for example, compounds are a general inhibitor of some process, like apoptosis or chaperone function and structure is unrelated to the central theme), it is acceptable to include it with only the generic name. Abstracts should include a statement of hypothesis, methods used, supporting data, results and conclusions. Abstracts found to be lacking in sufficient clarity, relation to the meeting topic areas, or scientific content may be rejected.
Preparation of the abstract should be rigorous and the abstract checked for errors and accuracy before submission. Errors in the submitted abstract cannot be corrected once the abstract is accepted. Errors can be corrected in the poster, so the whole set of data and information presented is accurate.
Scoring and Notification: First Call and Poster Award Competition Abstracts will be reviewed and scored when the call closes. Abstract authors will be notified beginning February 19, 2016 – thus providing several days for abstract authors to register for the meeting at the early discount rate which expires on February 29, 2016
