The 12th Congress of the EUGMS will be accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the CME activity for medical specialists.
The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).

The 12th Congress of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society (EUGMS) is going to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 5 to 7 October 2016.
Portugal, with almost 900 years of history is the oldest nation-state in Europe and Lisbon, its capital is the city located further west in Europe and it is located on the north bank of the Tagus river estuary, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
Both river and sea proximity, offers to Lisbon a very special mild climate and a unique light. The seven hills city is also known for the excellent cuisine, for its ancient and picturesque corners that contrasts between modern and cosmopolitan area.
Lisbon in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries has become known by the Portuguese Discoveries, through its maritime port from where the caravels left and arrived to Africa, Asia, Oceania and South America, expanding Western influence by all continents and establishing an empire that lasted nearly 600 years.
The Congress theme: "Discover new ways in Geriatric World" has the goal to associate the pioneering spirit and the adventure of the Discoveries to the future paths of Geriatrics in the search for new knowledge that will enable to improve the older patients care.
It is with a great honor and pleasure that I would like to invite all of you to save the date 5-7 October 2016 and join us in Lisbon to participate in the 12th EUGMS Congress, we will work to develop an unforgettable scientific program with a unique environment, and exquisite opportunity to meet colleagues from all the European countries.

The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts of original contributions to the Congress.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and may be selected for either oral or poster presentation.
Abstracts should be submitted in English and sent by May 15th, 2016.
Please note that abstracts must be submitted through the official online abstract submission system.
No faxed or e-mailed abstract will be accepted.
Notification of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee will be mailed to the presenting Author within June 15th, 2016.
Detailed information, guidelines and recommendations for oral or poster presentation, as well as time allotment, date, hour and venue will be sent by e-mail to registered presenting Author within July 31st, 2016.
All Authors of accepted abstracts are required to register and pay the registration fee to ensure the rights for the presentation.
EUGMS is unable to support any participation cost related to submitted abstract, including but not limited to registration, travel and accommodation.
AWARDS
One of the EUGMS' aims is to encourage and help young practitioners to further their knowledge and the society bestows for Young Researcher Awards: two for the best Oral Presentation and two for the best Poster Presentations.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION
The title of the abstract should be printed in initial capital letters followed by lower case.
The name(s) of the Author(s) should be preceded by the initials (please omit titles).
Organization should be abbreviated, with capitalization as in title.
The structure of the abstracts should include an introduction, methods, results and key conclusions.
Abbreviations should be defined by being placed in parentheses immediately after the full word or phrase has been typed for the first time.
No graphs, figures, tables or unusual symbols can be included.
Generic (nonproprietary) names should be used for drugs and substances.
The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION
Abstracts submission procedure will open next September 2015.
On October 5-7, 2016 the European leading medical experts will gather in Lisbon, Portugal, to attend one of the largest and most influential academic conferences and exhibitions on Geriatrics. The experts will focus on the most relevant issues related to the main theme of the Congress, including health care practices, pharmacological and surgical interventions.
