It is my great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 14th Asian Pacific Congress of Nephrology (APCN 2014), which will be held on May 14-17, 2014 in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan.
As 35 years have passed since the 1st APCN, held in Tokyo by Professor Kenzo Ohshima of Nihon University, Tokyo, it is now the perfect time to invite our colleagues back and share current research achievements. I would like to encourage you to join me in discussing the many issues in the inflammatory or metabolic renal diseases, acute kidney injury and renal replacement therapy. The three main symposia of APCN 2014 will cover the fields of IgA nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy and chronic kidney disease.
We will also continue our planned collaboration of the annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Nephrology (JSN) 2013 and APCN 2014 Cooperative Project in order to enhance support for young nephrologists from Asia for APCN 2014. It would give opportunities to more researchers than ever before to benefit from learning about various research from all over Asia.
Tokyo is a vibrant city and Shinagawa is one of the best areas to hold a congress. Shinagawa station is a hub station in Tokyo and you will find that the venue, the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, is conveniently located within a 3 minute walk from the station. You will also be able to access the major sightseeing spots from Shinagawa. The participants and their accompanying families will discover its convenient accessibility, entertainment possibilities, cultural wealth and accomplished hospitality.
I believe that the APCN 2014 will be fruitful for all nephrologists in Asian Pacific countries. I sincerely hope that many young nephrologists in this area join and discuss the many issues in nephrology and make this meeting fruitful for our future activity.
