Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear colleagues and friends,

Welcome to the 15th European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour (ESSSB15) which will take place on August 27-30, 2014 in Tallinn, Estonia.

The ESSSB is a bi-annual event, where people acting in the field of suicide research and prevention – researchers, clinicians, volunteers – can meet, share experiences and present recent achievements in order to save lives all over the world. The ESSSB offers a high-level scientific programme with plenary lectures, parallel sessions, workshops and posters, but also social events that connect conference participants in an informal way. The slogan of the ESSSB15 – “Suicide prevention is mental health promotion” – emphasizes an integrated and hopeful approach to suicide prevention.

The ESSSB15 will be organised in a vibrant Nordic city Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Conference organiser is the Estonian-Swedish Mental Health and Suicidology Institute (ERSI, www.suicidology.ee).

Kind regards and looking forward to see you in Tallinn!

Congratulations on being selected by the ESSSB15 Scientific Committee as a poster

presenter. These suggestions are meant to be a helpful guide. All poster presenters

receive these notes and they will, we hope, give reassurance to those who may not

have presented in this way before.

The ESSSB15 should be seen as a chance to present the essentials of your work to an

international audience of colleagues working in the same field, to get critical feedback

on your ideas and to network with people who share your interests. We do hope that

your presentation will give rise to further discussion outside the ESSSB15 and

perhaps future collaborations.

Poster presenters have an opportunity to have a relaxed dialogue about their work

with other delegates who express an interest. On the day announced to each poster

presenter individually a space will be reserved for you in a public area where you can

put up your poster and leave it even when you are not there so passers-by can read it.

In addition, there will be specific times when the Conference Programme dictates that

you must be at the poster ready to dialogue with your audience and readers. This

means your poster must communicate whether you are there or not. The poster

sessions are scheduled on the following days:

Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 13:00-14:00

Friday, August 29, 2014 at 13:00-14:00

Requirements for the poster

Size: A0

Format: Portrait

After your programmed session you should ensure that all your materials are

removed. A vertical surface about 100 x 250 cm is available. You should respect the

nature of this surface and ensure it is not damaged or spoiled. You will be provided

with non-permanent adhesive, such as ‘Blu-tac’, which leave no mark on removal.

Poster set-up

You can set up your poster on your poster presentation day at 8:30 and you should

remove it at 18:00. Check the layout of the room, the availability of any equipment

that you need and the location of electricity sockets.

During the Session

Be available nearby your poster during the poster session, be ready to introduce

yourself and have some contact cards available.

Be sensitive to the fact that your audience is international. You may need to explain

your national context and you could make your poster interesting and not just text.
