Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear colleagues,

in all disciplines,

In cooperation with the University of Geneva,

it is our pleasure to invite you to the

14th congress of OESO / OESO Foundation.

This event will illustrate the continuation of OESO’s

relentless pursuit, carried on since its founding,

to achieve benchmark syntheses in Esophagology.

The original OESO format of Questions/Answers in 5 minutes

will be applied in most of the 46 sessions, which will

deal with the 19 disciplines represented in OESO.

You will have the opportunity to make your choice

among sessions that will go deeply into precise topics

in a variety of domains, as well as purely clinical sessions

with debates on such subjects as alternative therapies for GERD,

surgical innovations, classification of cancers, etc…,

all targeted on your everyday practice.

Several sessions will be left to the initiative of young investigators,

and a number of Training Courses will be available in the program,

pertaining to Endoscopic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, or Robotics,

with Simulation devices of the latest generation at your disposal

in the brand new Learning Center of the University of Geneva, as well

as in the University Hospital. They will be organized for beginners

and for experts.

Posters and oral presentations, related to any topic

on the upper digestive tract will be welcome.

The Conference is constructed in order to maximize the contact

between Industry and faculty and attendees.

The aim is to present, in a true trans-disciplinary way,

the study of one organ, the esophagus, in all its aspects,

from its physiological functions to  diverse possible

pathological evolutions.

Throughout four intense days, you will have golden opportunities

to meet world renowned specialists from all fields,

to extend your knowledge, and to benefit from daily hands-on sessions

on a vast range of specializations.

The 14th OESO Conference in Geneva promises to be enriching,

and one of a kind.

Submission Info

The OESO Steering Committee invites congress participants to submit abstracts for Poster or Oral presentations.

Abstracts from ALL DISCIPLINES, either on the theme of the Congress, or on ANY TOPIC relating to the upper digestive tract, will be welcome.

Preferences for oral or poster presentation should be specified by the authors. Final decision will be made by a special selection committee. Oral communications will bea of 5 minutes each, followed by a 5 minute discussion.

In addition to the traditional poster exhibit, a computer “streaming presentation” of the Posters and oral presentations will be organized during the congress in a special room:

this consists of a computer display of up to 5 power point slides prepared by the author(s) to complete a poster with pertinent details or instructive commentaries.

All authors are therefore encouraged to prepare power point slides (up to 5) to accompany each of their abstracts.

In case of selection of their abstract, they will be asked to send the corresponding slides to SYMPORG to be included in the stream presentation.

Selected authors will receive relevant information in due time.

Throughout the Congress, the Poster Jury, the Chairs of the oral sessions, as well as the attendees, will have access, at any time, to the stream presentation of any posters or oral presentations on the program.

General Info

Dear Industry colleagues:

On behalf of my distinguished congress co- Presidents, Professor Je He and Professor Michio Hungo,

I would like to welcome you to the upcoming 2017 OESO biennial meeting in lovely Geneva – the center of Europe.

As you are aware, OESO is unique in the world not only in its focus on a single organ – the esophagus, but also because of its multidisciplinary nature – covering all aspects of esophageal medicine: diagnostics, pathology, surgery, endoscopy, medical, etc. – 19 specialties in total.

The meeting format is unique as well, comprising as it does a multitude of very specific questions, arranged in fora that bring together disciplines that typically work independently.

This is a meeting that needs the involvement of the medical industry and one that any company that deals in any aspect of digestive diseases, should be present at.

This is a single event that permits your company to interact with all the world’s experts

on the topic and to join in the discussions that will truly affect the future of esophageal treatment.

We are expecting  around 1,000 attendees at the congress in 2017, due to the quality of the program, the growing importance of the medical issues around the esophagus (the rapidly rising incidence of esophageal cancer, swallowing disorders and reflux disease, the explosion of genomic and informatics approaches to disease, etc).

The meeting is constructed in order to maximize the contact between industry and faculty and attendees, and indeed, many attend the OESO meeting because it is the place to come to explore what is new in the commercial world of esophageal care. This year as well, in order to make your support easier, we have instituted a “levels giving” program, that packages all opportunities to participate and maximize your exposure to the OESO attendees.

We personally look forward to welcoming you as participants in the congress and thoroughly appreciate your support of OESO.

Warm regards,

Lee Swanstrom                    Jie He                    Michio Hongo
