Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) #

Edinburgh, UK

Situated at the heart of Scotland's elegant and historic capital city, the EICC is one of the world's outstanding venues for conferences, conventions and exhibitions.

Our purpose-built centre offers the very best in facilities and technology; and our experienced, enthusiastic team will help to ensure your event's success. At the EICC, we bring people together and get them talking. We create a sense of momentum. We remember every detail. And we conjure up those defining moments that delegates remember long after they have left. We would love you to visit us and see for yourself. In the meantime, we hope our website gives you an idea of what is possible for your event.

What do we mean to Edinburgh?

The EICC is owned by the City of Edinburgh Council and operates as an independent commercial venture. With its history, architecture and festivals, Edinburgh has long been popular with tourists but the EICC was built to attract more business visitors. Since opening in 1995, we have welcomed over a million delegates through our doors for more than 2,500 events, generating £400m in economic impact for the city. But perhaps more importantly, the EICC is also a source of great pride for a city that has flourished through celebrating its past whilst always looking to the future.

Event Overview
Welcome message:

 Dear Skin Cancer Specialist,

From September 3rd to 6th 2014, the 15th World Congress on Cancers of the Skin (WCCS 2014) will take place for the first time in the UK, in Edinburgh, capital of Scotland. Scotland is of course a country where skin cancer rates, in a fair-skinned population accustomed to sunny holidays and often ill-advised sunbed use, are of major concern. The 15th WCCS will therefore appropriately consider all aspects of this subject, from the clinical, histological and genetic nature of these cancers, to how best to prevent and treat them. Addressing this major issue will be a superior faculty of speakers drawn from all of the UK, continental Europe, the USA, Canada, Africa, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, clearly demonstrating the thoroughly global importance of the topic. The venue for this signal event will be the superbly suitable Edinburgh International Congress Centre (EICC) situated in the city centre.

Early September is usually a great time of the year in Edinburgh, the historic and picturesque home of Scotland's famous cultural heritage, characterised superbly by a landmark castle on a cliff top, the British royal family's former Royal Yacht Britannia, and many architecturally beautiful buildings. Social events in absolutely excellent settings will accompany the congress, while the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe will just precede the event, and a host of tours both before and after it will suit both sightseer and sportsman. In addition, Edinburgh is the gateway to a host of world-renowned golf courses and major scenic attractions, all of which will be easily accessible to conference delegates both before and after the congress.

Given the major worldwide importance in incidence, morbidity, mortality and cost to society of skin cancer, this event will attract a very large number of delegates from all over the globe, and we invite you to join them. Please do indicate your preliminary interest by sending your details to wccs2014@bad.org.uk, though this will of course not commit you further. Updates on the Congress will be regularly provided on this website.

I do hope we shall see you at the meeting for this major academic event, with social and sightseeing opportunities to match.

Very best wishes.

Professor John Hawk
Congress President

Professor Alex Anstey
Secretary General
