Welcome message:

Together with Dr Gina Kourt, it gives me great pleasure to co-host the 18th International Society of Ocular Oncology Biennial Conference / NSW RANZCO Annual Scientific Meeting to be held at the International Convention Centre, Sydney from 24-28 March, 2017.


The NSW RANZCO component of the combined conference will run from 24-25 March, 2017 and its theme will be ocular oncology/oculoplastics.


Work has commenced already on assembling a scientific programme of excellence. Associate Professor Max Conway and I have been meeting with members of the Melanoma Institute of Australia to develop a session on the relevance of cutaneous melanoma to uveal melanoma and this type of presentation will be a first for an ocular oncology conference.


Ocular, conjunctival, eyelid and orbital tumours and simulating conditions will be featured, along with didactic lectures on these subjects, so there will something of interest, not just for general ophthalmologists, but also for those whose subspecialties include plastics, cornea, retina, paediatric and ocular pathology.


The two meetings will run in parallel sessions and registration for a delegate to attend both conferences is planned.


Needless to say, we will have a pleasant, relaxing social programme seeking to capitalise on the wonders 

of Sydney Harbour.


The organising committees of ISOO and RANZCO NSW will look forward to welcoming you in Sydney in 2017.
