Care Co-Workers and Dear Colleagues,

I was glad to accept the appointment as Vice President of our Company, which took place at the Congress of Alexandria, masterfully organized by Carlo Origo. The SITOP is the company that, as a young intern and "squire" of Prof. Mastragostino, I witnessed the birth, and assume the presidency at the end of the conference in Genoa, as of now fills me with joy and pride. 

I knew that the Vice President would have involved the honor and the burden of organizing the XIX National Congress that, given the difficult times, will result in a demanding job and not just from a scientific point of view. Once identified topics, welcomed by the meeting, together with my collaborators we set to work to draw up a program that would deepen in all their aspects, the conference themes: 

"The eterometrie of the lower limbs and traumatology of the column age pediatric ". 

Both are unique heritage of orthopedic developmental: the first, more frequent, place us in the face of sometimes difficult choices, and they are, in some ways, a source of great concern for our patients' parents. Moreover, requiring a comparison of the results obtained with traditional techniques applied by Orthopedic Surgeons Italian, not to mention what new is entering the market to resolve, perhaps in a less invasive, some of these issues. The latter are constantly increasing due to the early approach agonistic activity also in sport not exactly typical pediatric age. These diseases are always a source of diagnostic and therapeutic doubts and become real emergencies when they involve the spinal cord, putting at risk the lives of our young patients. 

I thank all colleagues who have asked to have become available and for agreeing to be "project leader" of any multicenter studies, with the aim of collecting, especially on matters that have less impact, sufficient data for submission to the National Congress. 

I tried to trust relationships to those who, in my opinion, is responsible argument for a long time and has knowledge and experience to help address problems often of no simple solution. 

We will have the pleasure of welcoming two colleagues of international importance which we will present the excellence in their countries for a useful comparison with our different experiences. 

Ample space will be devoted to open communications and on related issues and for that I invite everyone to participate, especially young people, inviting them to submit their scientific contributions: the Congress and the SITOP they need to graduate and neo-specialists who contribute with their strength and determination to the growth of the company. 

Special thanks for their teachings, goes to Dr. Becchetti and Dr. Stella, Honorary Presidents of this year. 

Genoa is a beautiful city and September is a great month to visit it in all its splendor at the end of the summer and we will have the opportunity to be able to discover together. 

I expect many of the XIX Congress of the SITOP returning to Genoa in 30 years when it was organized by Prof. Mastragostino, assisted by Prof Bagliani and two young fellows then, Origo and Boero.
