This program is designed to provide a comprehensive review and update of both established breast imaging modalities along with advances in state-of-the-art techniques.  A complete discussion – with emphasis on practical advice – of analog and digital mammography, breast ultrasound and interventional techniques will provide a strong foundation to advance to newer technologies.  Identifying the role and interpretation of breast MRI will be given special attention.

After attending the course, participants should be able to:

Accurately interpret a screening or diagnostic mammogram.

Determine the appropriate workup of a breast lesion.

Accurately interpret breast ultrasound exams.

Determine the correct follow-up after needle core biopsy of breast lesions.

Establish sensible indications and techniques for breast MRI exams for their own facility.

Accurately interpret breast MRI exams.

Discuss the potential advantages and possible limitations of advanced modalities for breast imaging.

 

ACCREDITATION:  The Duke University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

CREDIT DESIGNATION:  The Duke University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 17 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.    Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Resort service fee of 8% per villa per day will apply to all villa rentals.  Rates are subject to 6.5% South Carolina state and 6% local taxes.  Maximum occupancy at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is two adults  per bedroom.  Chidlren under the age of 18 when accompanied by an adult and staying in the same room are free of charge.  Check in time is 4:30 pm and check out is 10:30 am.  These rates will be available three (3) days prior and three (3) days after scheduled conference dates.  Rooms are being held at these rates until May 22, 2014 or until the room block is full.  To make reservations call 1-800-654-2924.  To receive the group rate, reference Duke Radiology Breast Imaging meeting.
