2017 ARTHROSCOPY & ARTHROPLASTY
The international faculty would like to invite you to the Advanced Instructional Course on Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy, which will be held in July 2016 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Arthroplasty is a fascinating, rapidly evolving and complex area of hand surgery. This course on Monday the 4th of July will provide core knowledge about indications for joint replacement and other procedures for degeneration of the thumb and finger joints, as well as hands-on experience for orthopedic surgeons interested in these procedures.
On Tuesday July 5, the topic will be arthroscopy and arthroplasty of the elbow. This year we focus on degeneration of the elbow. Even if you are inexperienced in this kind of surgery this would be a great opportunity to learn a lot about this joint in a single day. During the hands-on session you can practise the different techniques on fresh specimens while the faculty and the technicians of the providing companies will assist you.
On July 5, 6 and 7, two instructional courses will be held simultaneously (You can only attend a single course)
After 3 decades of knee arthroscopy this modality made so much progress it is now a major topic in orthopaedic surgery. Cruciate reconstructions are very successful if you pay attention to every detail! Although much progress has been made, there are still new techniques coming. Anatomic single bundle ACL reconstructions, posterolateral corner problems, instability combined with varus thrust, patellofemoral joint instability en meniscal repair techniques will be discussed and practised. Especially if you are an experienced arthroscopist of the knee it is a very interesting course to become even more experienced.
Shoulder arthroscopy is expanding very rapidly. New techniques, better equipment and a better understanding of pathophysiology all contribute to the increase of procedures. During the course advanced techniques of arthroscopic instability and rotator cuff repair will be discussed and practised in the lab on fresh specimens.
On Friday July 8, the topic will be arthroplasty of the shoulder. Indications and results of the different total shoulder prosthesis, from surface replacement up to reverse prosthesis will be discussed. There is ample time to practice the implantation of these prostheses on fresh specimens during the hands-on sessions in the lab with 2 participants per specimen. The faculty as well as the technicians of the providing companies will assist you.
We all are pleased to assist you and are looking forward to meet you during the arthroscopy and arthroplasty course in Utrecht.
