2017 CLINICAL IMAGING SYMPOSIUM IN NEVIS
There are many recent technological advances in imaging techniques and protocols which can be applied to current clinical practice. Maintenance of certification requires continued review of essential imaging techniques in all areas of radiology, including musculoskeletal, breast, PET, thoracic, and abdominal Imaging. This course is designed to demonstrate a practical approach to image acquisition and interpretation in various clinical settings using current up-to-date imaging techniques, while decreasing patient radiation dose. Lecture topics include: lung cancer screening, PET/CT in lymphoma, CT/MR enterography, imaging the patient with lateral hip pain, and Breast MR with BIRADs update. In addition to didactic lectures, several case-based sessions will also be included to cover: abdomen, breast, msk and thoracic imaging.
Educational Objectives
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
- Describe how current advances in Prostate MRI utilization have enabled it to be used as an essential tool for detection, staging and surveillance of prostate cancer
- Describe the most current lung cancer screening guidelines and reporting system (Lung-RADS)
- Utilize shoulder imaging, including MRI and ultrasound, (technique, detailed anatomy and pathologic appearances), as the principal methods to evaluate patients with suspected rotator cuff disease
- Describe the new "Dense breast" laws, the implications of having dense breasts, and the value of the different supplemental screening exams available, while utilizing the ACR appropriateness criteria in the screening and diagnostic breast imaging setting
