2017 MAYO CLINIC UPDATE IN UROLOGY
This course is designed for Physicians: General Urologists, Robotic Surgeons, Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists specializing throughout the spectrum of clinical urology.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
Describe the current modalities for risk stratification of patients with newly-diagnosed prostate cancer.
Discuss the proper use of image-guided focal prostate therapy for prostate cancer.
Update on modern day prostatectomy: Robotic vs open surgery – Individualizing approaches to maximize urinary continence and erectile function and appropriate rehabilitation strategies for each.
Update optimal approaches for high grade prostate cancer. Surgery vs. Radiation and timing of adjuvant/neo-adjuvant therapy.
Evaluate recent advances in systemic therapy for advanced prostate carcinoma.
Identify the roles of adjuvant and salvage therapies for patients with biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy.
Recognize the various surgical and medical strategies for Peyronie’s disease, and determine the appropriate timing/selection of each in order to maximize treatment approach.
