Goals and Objectives for Practical Updates in Anesthesiology 2018, sponsored by the University of Michigan Department of Anesthesiology:

The University of Michigan is pleased to present the 21st Annual Practical Updates in Anesthesiology. This course is designed to provide the anesthesia provider with a review of the most recent information of many of the components that go into making a successful practice of anesthesiology. You won’t find a better CME value or friendlier venue for your continuing medical education!

This meeting will focus on practical updates in the clinical subspecialty areas in our field.  We will cover areas of Pediatric Anesthesiology; new and old drugs; clinical topics in surgery for Orthopedics; Critical Care, including sepsis and hemodynamic derangements; as well as Acute and Chronic Pain and a discussion of the current nationwide opioid crisis.  The final topics will include Impairment in Anesthesia Providers, Patient Safety, and System-Based Approach to Effective Problem Solving.  And as usual, we will end each day’s session with a case presentation and clinical discussion. Following attendance at this activity learners will be able to implement advances in clinical anesthesiology to improve clinical care.
