Dear colleagues and friends,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Tokyo for the XXII Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Eye Research, September 25 - 29, 2016. As Local Organizers and Program Chairs, we are currently preparing for your visit with great care and hoping that you will enjoy the scientific program and the social activity at the meeting.
Thanks to the Program Committee Members, at present we have 125 invited oral sessions and further reaching out to the global eye research community to receive new abstracts. All oral sessions will be two hours long with 5 slots of 24 min talks. The last fifth slot can be divided into two young investigator oral presentations. We encourage young investigators to submit their abstract to join the oral session with the experts.
The meeting will be held at the Keio Plaza Hotel located at Shinjuku area in Tokyo, where you will find an easy access from two international airports, Narita and Haneda. The venue will be surrounded by various hotels, restaurants, department stores and more. While the oral sessions will be held at the fourth and fifth floor, the poster session will be held at the 43th floor overlooking the magnificent view of Shinjuku skyline and sunset.
Excursion tours will be programed for you to explore the capital of Japan and to enjoy the Japanese traditional and pop cultures. In addition, from Tokyo it is very easy to access most of the other main places, including Hokkaido, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, and Kyushu, by super express train (Shinkansen) or by airplane. We hope you enjoy the rich culture and heritage of Japan.

Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentation. The choice of format will be made by the scientific program committee. Notification of format will be provided to the presenter when the program has been finalized.
Young Investigators* may submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation.
Each participant is allowed to present only ONE abstract, but can be listed as co-authors on multiple abstracts.
Tables must be saved and uploaded as JPEG files. Other file types cannot be accepted. Please note that these may be resized to fit in the final printed material.
Abstracts submitted via fax will not be accepted.
Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in the official Meeting publications.
Abstracts must be submitted before May 12, 2016 (Abstract Submission Deadline)
Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered participants.
Abstracts must be original and must not be or have been published or presented at any other meeting prior to the ISER Meeting.
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
Abstracts must be received by the announced deadline. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.
Abstracts that do not contain data will not be reviewed favorably.
*Young Investigators shall be predoctoral or postdoctoral (PhD/OD/MD/DVM) equivalent students, clinical residents, or clinical fellows engaged in vision/eye research, Assistant Professors, or the equivalent, within the first seven years of their appointment in rank or equivalent, appointment at an institution of higher learning, or industry, in a scientific field related to vision or ophthalmology, MD/PhD, DVM/PhD or OD/PhD students engaged in the PhD research phase of the degree.
