Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is indeed a great honour and pleasure to host the 25th Anniversary Congress of the European Society for Paediatric Urology in Innsbruck – Austria, May 7-10th, 2014 and we cordially invite you to attend this silver jubilee meeting and explore a wonderful city in the middle of the Alps.
Innsbruck is the cultural and economic centre of western Austria (http://www.innsbruck.at). It is also one of the most famous and substantial tourist centres. Innsbruck is a university city located in the broad valley between high mountains. It is an internationally renowned winter sports centre and hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics.
The first mention of Innsbruck dates back to the name Oeni Pons which is Latin for bridge (pons) over the Inn (Oenus), which was an important crossing point over the river Inn established by the Romans in the 4th century. The route over the Brenner Pass was then a major transport and communications link between the north and the south of Europe, and the easiest route across the Alps. The revenues generated by serving as a transit station enabled the city to flourish. In the 15th century the city became a centre of European politics and culture as Emperor Maximilian I also resided here. The University as one of the oldest in Europe was founded in 1669.
The congress venue is located in the heart of the city close to the old town (http://www.congress-innsbruck.at). Most of the facilities needed for the convention are within walking distance and serve for your comfort.
We ensure to do our best to make this anniversary meeting a scientific outstanding one with valuable input from all over the world that will stay in your remembrance.
We hope to meet all of you in the middle of the Alps and are looking forward to it since there are many reasons to come to Innsbruck in springtime 2014.
