This exciting and stimulating conference will bring together colorectal experts to discuss issues in the field.
This year will again include the Pelvic Dissection TaTME Cadaver Lab as a non-CME educational opportunity, which allows participants the opportunity to receive instruction from renowned faculty and develop and/or perfect their technique of transanal surgery.
Attendance at the symposium will provide the attendees with a detailed analysis of the current status of every major colorectal area. Video demonstrations will help improve competencies and patient outcomes. Multidisciplinary integration amongst surgery, gastroenterology, imaging and pathology will be emphasized in combined sessions centered upon the definitions and optimization of patient outcomes.
Optional Scientific Paper Session, where participant abstracts are presented in both electronic poster and podium format will also be included as a non-CME educational opportunity.

The Scientific Paper Session will include both oral and video presentations.

The committee encourages submission of advanced‐level content with appeal to the highly skilled
colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologist who attend this conference. You are encouraged to submit
abstracts on any aspect of colorectal disease, gastroenterology, and Hepatology, especially on current
and emerging issues and case studies related, but not limited to:
Inflammatory bowel disease
Rectal cancer
Benign anorectal disease
Pelvic floor disorders
Minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery

RULES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS:
Abstracts must be submitted via email to cme@ccf.org and must include all necessary
attachments (ie: images, tables, charts, videos, etc.).
Images and videos may be attached as separate files or uploaded via an online service (ie: Drop
Box, We Transfer, Send It Now, etc.).
Submissions are limited to two (2) abstract entries per Primary Author and three (3) entries per
Institution.
All abstracts must be received by November 15, 2017
Author and institution references should not be included in abstract text
Podium and video submissions require a written abstract
A structured abstract must include the following:
o A limit of 400 words
o 2‐3 references
o Background
o Purpose
o Study design/Setting
o Methods
o Results
o Conclusions
o Tables, figures & graphs (if applicable)
REVIEW PROCESS:
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a committee apprised of colorectal surgeons and
gastroenterologists.
Abstracts will be blinded and scored
Content is evaluated based on
o Quality of content
o Relevance of topic
o Educational value
o Clearly identified objectives
Submitting authors will receive notification of results by December 15, 2017, once the review
process is complete.
All authors will be awarded a certificate of presentation.
Winning authors will receive an additional certificate, as well as a complimentary registration for
2018 or a future course (must be used within two (2) years.)
The DDSI Week Abstract Review Committee reserves the right to make final decisions regarding
acceptance of abstracts for presentation sessions
AUTHORS OF ACCEPTED ABSTRACTS MUST AGREE:
To present information in an objective manner without bias to a particular company, program or
product.
That abstract may be reproduced for use in conference materials, including electronic
presentation and printed documentation.
That abstracts may be selected for reproduction in the Cleveland Clinic Journal and therefore, a
manuscript would be required.
CORRESPONDING AUTHORS:
For all submissions, a corresponding author, including contact address, phone, and email should be
provided. This author will be responsible for all questions about the abstract (if any) and registration.
Abstract Submission Fee is $50 USD. This fee is non‐refundable.
Presenting authors must register for either the Colorectal Disease Symposium or the
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Symposium and will be required to pay the abstract
submission fee at this time. The full registration may be paid later, if the submission is accepted
for presentation.
