CCIB – Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona #

BARCELONA, SPAIN
The CCIB - Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona came into being in 2004 with the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. Following the Forum, management of the Convention Centre was subsequently awarded to GL events CCIB SL, a company created specifically for this purpose. The corporate form of the CCIB is therefore that of a Limited Liability Company (LLC), with the following shareholder structure: GL events: 80% Barcelona City Council: 12% Association of Barcelona Hoteliers: 8% GL events, established in Lyon in 1978, is a world leader in the events sector. In 2011, this group operated a global network of 91 event locations, employed a workforce of 3,700 and generated turnover of 783 million euros. The CCIB’s client profile is composed of three main types: Agencies specialised in staging events for other organisations Private companies which organise an event directly Associations active in specific fields of the knowledge sector. At the CCIB we are able to organise events of any type, whether local or international. Given the characteristics of the Convention Centre, however, we offer outstanding capacity for the organisation of large-scale events with a global reach. These also have a positive impact on the city of Barcelona regarding hotel occupation, catering and other services related to the event. In this regard, 83% of our turnover is generated by international events attended by visitors from all over the world. It is also noteworthy that 42% of our clients are from other countries. We would like to offer you a selection of the events organised by the CCIB since it opened for business up to 2011, as well as - with the kind permission of the respective organisers - notable events already confirmed for the future.

Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 2nd European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC 2016), which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 10 -12 May, 2016.

Last year the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) took the courageous decision to establish its own stroke conference. There were strong democratic and compliance reasons behind our decision, and there appeared to be powerful support from scientific colleagues. What we did not fully anticipate was the overwhelming demonstration of practical support that arose from every quarter. Societies in our field - WSO, APSO, ESC, ESMINT, ESNR – declared their alignment with ESO.

ESOC 2015 had over 1400 abstracts submitted and we were being asked to take late breaking trials – of outstanding quality – right through the final weeks. At least two simultaneous NEJM publications were coordinated with our large trials session. Delegates have indicated their commitment: our first meeting attracted nearly 2,700 registrations.

For ESOC 2016 the Programme Committee is creating a comprehensive series of keynote lectures, symposia, teaching courses and various workshops, covering the entire field of stroke management, prevention and recovery. You will have a unique opportunity to network with colleagues from all over the world. These interactions enhance research and career development. You will be exposed to a variety of interactive educational sessions in a stimulating environment, and you will learn about the latest scientific research and developments in the field.

We look forward to welcoming you to the attractive and modern city of Barcelona and encourage you to evaluate the meeting as an opportunity to update your knowledge.

I look forward to welcoming you, with warm greetings, to Barcelona.

Kennedy Lees

President, European Stroke Organisation

If you submit a manuscript on your work before presentation at ESOC 2016, you should agree with the journal editor that it will not be released online prior to the date of presentation.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.

Ordinarily, only abstracts with results will be accepted for review. Results may be preliminary, and the final results can be updated in the presentation or poster. However, for clinical trials that will complete in time to release results in a late-breaking session, authors are encouraged to submit a placeholder abstract outlining the sample size and analyses to be presented, an updated abstract may be submitted until the print deadline of 20 March, 2016.

All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.

All submitted abstracts will be forwarded to the Committee for review. Notifications regarding status will be sent once the review process is complete.
