Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleagues:

As the Congress Organizer, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the 32nd World Congress of Endourology and SWL (WCE 2014) to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from September 3-7, 2014. WCE is without a doubt the largest and most important event for endourologists worldwide. Our team will continue the tradition and exert great efforts to ensure the impending WCE vent a fabulous one, both in terms of the scientific programs and social activities.

With “Evolving Endourology for Future Generations” as the main theme of WCE 2014, we aim to showcase the most cutting edge technologies in endourology and provide ongoing education for endourologists. The plenary sessions will focus on the integration of biomedicine and minimal invasive endourology and the future development of simulation technology in endourology. In order to broaden the horizons of the young endourologists and our distinguished members, we have provided a platform for lots of debates focusing on minimal invasive therapy on urooncology, urolithiasis, urine incontinence and prevalent urological diseases in Asia-pacific region from world-renowned urologists. For our future leaders in endourology, we will feature an in-depth discussion in education on minimal invasive endourology and the application of simulation technology during WCE 2014. To demonstrate how technology is inextricably integrated with endourology, we will adopt e-posters for all of our accepted papers at WCE 2014.

In addition, educational programs are also planned for our members ranging from the fundamental practice to advanced management in endourological fields. Various satellite symposia provided by our industrial patrons will also bring to the participants a whole new perspective on the newly developed technology and instruments used nowadays in order to provide better treatment options for our patients.

Taipei is the major cultural, economic and political center of Taiwan. It is one of the most fascinating and dynamic cities in all of Asia with its fusion of traditional and contemporary, both Chinese and Western, its culinary delights and vibrant cultural activities. There is much to delight your senses whatever your interests are. There is no doubt that the success of the Congress will depend on all of those who take the time to gather here and to present their speeches, to see their old friends and to make new ones. According to Confucius, the great sage of China, one of the auspicious moments in life is to have friends visiting us from far-off places. Here, I quote this famous saying to welcome you all to Taipei and may you take the opportunity to enjoy the dynamic beauty of Taiwan and the fine Taiwanese cuisine, while also experiencing the warm hospitality of the Taiwanese people. You will take with you lasting memories of your trip to Taiwan.

Once again, with open arms and warm regards, we welcome you all to Taipei!

Sincerely yours,

Allen Chiu, M.D., Ph.D.

Poster Presentation Guideline

Acceptance of abstracts will be judged on originality, scientific merit, study design, clarity of expression, presentation of data, adherence to the rules of submission, and relevance to the topic.

Instructions

  1. The abstract must not exceed 250 words.
  2. The presenting author name should be selected as Presenter.
  3. The abstract should ideally adhere to the following format: Introduction and Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and Source of Founding. Short and descriptive titles are preferred, avoiding the declarative or interrogatory title styles. Abbreviations conjured up for use within an abstract are annoying and require constant reference on the part of readers, and non-standard abbreviations should be avoided.
  4. Authors agree to copy editing of the abstract.
  5. The Congress referees prefer and will look with greatest favor on abstracts submitted in the Introduction and Objectives-Methods-Results-Conclusions-Source of Founding format.

    Example:
Introduction and Objectives: It is a clear statement of why the research was undertaken and what we need to know in order to make our understanding of the research more complete.
Methods: The section should include the clinical setting (taking care not to identify the institution), sampling criteria, inclusive dates, etc. The control group should be adequately described. Specific mention should be made of the number of experimental subjects or patients in groups. The statistical method and levels of significance should be included.
Results: It should be stated in sufficient detail to support the conclusion, with only enough interpretation to indicate relevance; extended discussion or literature reviews should be avoided.
Conclusions: It should summarize the abstract (We conclude...) with a brief statement of findings clearly supported by the data, consistent with the research purpose, and with a minimum of further suggestions or inferences. The conclusion should be readable as a short, stand-alone statement.
Source of Fundings: One should list out if this study is funded by any organization or institution. If not, then please write "None."

  6. Congress referees will consider abstracts submitted in different styles only when the above-described format is inappropriate to the content.
