You are invited to participate in the 33^rd annual meeting of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS), to be held September 11-13, 2014 and hosted by the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The EBJIS is an European association of orthopedic surgeons, trauma surgeons, infectious disease specialists and microbiologists. They all have a focus on the infections of the musculoskeletal system. At the same time they are involved in research in this area. The members of this association come from 32 countries, mainly from Europe but also from other continents.

The annual meeting will bring together experts, practitioners and companies involved in infections affecting bone and joints. Professionals attending this meeting will benefit from high-level scientific presentations, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities, with the overall goal of promoting prevention and treatment of these diseases.

For over 30 years now the EBJIS organizes its annual meeting in one of the European countries. For the second time the meeting is organized in the Netherlands. This time it is hosted in Utrecht, which is the fourth largest city, full of history and located central in the Netherlands. Utrecht is about 30 minutes traveling by train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

The local committee is working hard on the organization of EBJIS 2014. They are putting together an interesting program.
We look forward to a high qualitative and inspiring annual meeting of the EBJIS and hope to see you in Utrecht on 11 September 2014!

The deadline for abstract submission is May 1, 2014.

In case you wish to start preparing your abstract(s), click here  to access the guidelines for abstract preparation and submission. It is advisable to begin submitting your abstract only when its content and authorship are final.

Abstracts on the following topics are welcome:

• Biofilm & basic science
• Spinal infections
• Infected diabetic foot
• Diagnostics of potential prosthetic joint infections
• Therapy in prosthetic infections
• Post-traumatic infections
• Other

It is the responsibility of investigators that all studies be performed in accordance with national legislation, international legislation and ethical guidelines for medical research involving humans and/or animals. The EBJIS 2014 Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject any submitted abstract that is believed to violate these principles.

Submitted abstracts will undergo review by the scientific committee and will be scheduled for presentation at EBJIS 2014 only if accepted by the reviewers. In general, accepted abstracts will be scheduled as free paper presentations or for poster presentation. Scheduling notifications will be sent to the submitting authors by the end of June 2014.

To ensure scheduling of a submitted and accepted abstract in the final EBJIS 2014 program, thepresenting author must be registered as an EBJIS 2014 delegate on August 6, 2014.

Accepted abstracts will be released publicly on Wednesday, September 10, 12.00 noon GMT. Until that time abstracts are embargoed. Accepted abstracts will be published on the conference website and in the conference abstract book. By submitting an abstract you grant EBJIS 2014 permission to publish your abstract.

Withdrawal of abstracts can only be accepted if notified in writing and subsequently confirmed by the EBJIS Secretariat.
