46th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN 2018)
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the annual ISPN Meeting, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 46th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery taking place in Tel Aviv on 7-11 October 2018.
The pediatric neurosurgical community has grown in the last 46 years. Many national pediatric societies and groups have been founded and have joined the ISPN. Today, our annual meeting hosts over 600 delegates from all over the world.
Our practice is dynamic and has changed greatly over the course of 46 years: The 2018 meeting in Tel Aviv will reflect on these topics and breakthroughs that affect our daily dilemmas as care providers.
While embracing these changes and developments, we still preserved one very important feature: Our close-knit community. The ISPN annual meeting is the highlight of the year for pediatric neurosurgeons, where we build knowledge, meet new colleagues and form world-wide collaborations.
You are invited to a very special region of the world, where you will find a historic mixture of cultures, including the spiritual atmosphere of Nazareth and Jerusalem, and the free spirit of Tel Aviv. Israel is a unique mix of the ancient and the modern; from archaeological sites to start-ups, from top-notch museums to walking on the beach, from street food to gourmet food. It is an experience like no other.
We look forward to welcoming you to Tel Aviv to enjoy a program led by academic excellence and enriched by invigorating social elements.

Submission Info
On behalf of the Scientific Committee of the ISPN, thank you for submitting your work for presentation at the 46th Annual Meeting in Tel Aviv, Israel. We have an on-line submission and evaluation process administered by Kenes; please take a moment to read the following simple guidelines.
All abstracts must be submitted on-line through the abstract submission system. Abstracts that are sent via e-mail or fax will not be included in the abstract assessment process by the Scientific Committee.
For abstract submissions after the deadline, please note that depending on when the abstract is submitted it may still be considered for acceptance at the meeting, but only as a poster. If the submission is late it might not be possible to include this in the printed conference proceedings
Abstract submission deadline 2018-05-26
Please note that to enable the maximum number of presenters and to ensure diversity we aim to allow only one oral platform presentation per presenting author unless the circumstances are exceptional, i.e. very high-quality abstracts and as adjudicated by the committee. Additional abstracts of course are welcome but will likely be allocated to poster presentations, or possibly a flash presentation. Keep in mind though that poster presenters will also get a chance to present their study to an audience in the poster sessions. Multiple abstracts from an institution are welcome and may be afforded more than one oral presentation if the presenting author is different.
The presenting author assumes full responsibility for the contents of the abstract and must ensure that all other authors have approved the abstract before submission.
The presenting author will be required to register for the Congress in order to have acceptance of the abstract confirmed and submitted for publication in the journal's proceedings.
Preparation of Abstracts:
Accepted abstracts will be scored by the Scientific Committee and those accepted for oral (platform or flash) presentation are published in the society's official journal Childs' Nervous System. Since there will be no editing of the abstracts prior to scoring, authors are required to avoid typing errors, misordering of names, incorrect spelling etc. as these create a negative impression for reviewers.
All abstracts must be submitted in English.
Category: A main category (see below) that is relevant for your abstract must be selected during the submission process. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to change the category during the abstract assessment process.
Presentation type: As usual, abstracts will be considered either for:
- oral: platform [8 minutes]
- oral: flash [3 minutes]
- poster: presented (1-2 minutes)
Your preference (oral or poster) should be indicated during the submission process. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to change the presentation type according to the requirements of the scientific programme. Poster presenters will have an opportunity to present their posters to a guided tour of all the posters.
Title: Abstract title can contain a maximum of 250 characters.
Author(s): First and last names, institutions, and e-mail addresses of the authors must be fully indicated correctly and in the right order. Abstracts of accepted oral presentations will be published in Childs' Nervous System with the indicated author and institution names without making any adjustments. Posters will be listed.
Institution(s): The institution(s) of the authors should be indicated fully with the "department" and "institution" names while avoiding any abbreviations such as Dept., Inst., Hosp., etc. The institution and city should be written in lower case while the initials of each word are written in capitals (e.g. The Hospital for Sick Children).
Abstract text: Abstract text should not exceed 300 words. The title of the abstract, authors' names, institutions and keywords are not included in this limit.
The abstract should have four sections:
- Objective
- Material and Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
Images, tables, diagrams and graphs are allowed for the abstracts; however, they will not be published in the CNS Journal. Please upload images, tables, diagrams and graphs in the system on the related section of the abstract submission system.
Keywords: Keywords should not be included in any of the sections of the abstract text, and written only in the section dedicated for keywords. A maximum 5 keywords can be provided. All keywords should be written in lower case (e.g.: hydrocephalus).
Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract.
It is possible to make changes in the already submitted abstracts until April 2, 2018. It will not be possible to make changes after this deadline. Please get in contact with Ms. Alida Enes from the Congress Secretariat (aenes@kenes.com) for editing after submitting the abstract.
Please ensure that the e-mail address of abstract authors are entered correctly to enable the Congress Organizing Secretariat to communicate with you regarding the abstract. All information regarding the acceptance, any required adjustments, and scheduling will be communicated via e-mail to the abstract presenting author.
