Event Overview
Welcome message:
Expert faculty will use a case-based format that will enable you to set up a heart team and multidisciplinary interventional program. This clinically oriented course will highlight innovations and recent developments in valvular and structural heart disease interventions. The course will review what you need to know regarding imaging and state-of-the-art treatment for aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and left atrial appendage closure. Other challenging clinical problems, such as paravalvular regurgitation and patent foramen ovale closure will also be discussed.

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Review current strategies for repair or replacement of the mitral valve
  • Assess the need for aortic valve replacement as well as emerging interventional procedure options for the treatment of aortic stenosis
  • Identify appropriate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients for septal alcohol ablation
  • Describe current diagnosis and treatment of pericardial disease and whom to select for surgery
  • Identify strategies for patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect closure
  • Describe techniques to obliterate the left atrial appendage percutaneously

Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
