The 'European Society of Gastrointestinal- and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR)' (or) '4th ESGAR Pancreas Workshop' is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
The '4th ESGAR Pancreas Workshop' is designated for a maximum of (or 'for up to') 11 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.
Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Event Overview
Welcome message:

The imaging of the pancreas is an important task for radiologists, due to the difficulties in the management of benign pancreatic conditions, such as chronic pancreatitis, or the aggressivity of malignant pancreatic diseases, such as ductal adenocarcinoma. Moreover, some benign and malignant conditions can overlap in the imaging presentation.
The function of imaging is to discriminate benign from malignant conditions, giving an fundamental support to clinicians in the management of these patients. Thanks to non-invasive imaging techniques, from simple to very advanced, it is possible to obtain both morphological and functional information, which can lead to the correct diagnosis.

Aims

The aim of the workshop is to provide a comprehensive coverage of all the main pancreatic pathologies that will be presented by means of an integrated multimodality approach. A set of lectures on imaging modalities will explain the most up-to-date techniques and protocols in the imaging of the pancreas. The format of the workshop will include formal lectures assigned to expert colleagues. Moreover, an interactive discussion on real clinical cases will be led — in additional “slots” — by the faculty members who will help to define the state-of-the-art in the diagnosis of pancreatic diseases as well as how to manage the diagnostic work-up of pancreatic diseases in the daily practice.

Target group

Radiologists, radiologists in training

Learning Objectives

To provide state-of-the-art imaging protocols for US, CEUS, MDCT and MRITo detail the most relevant clinical questions that radiologists need to know when assessing patients with inflammatory pancreatic diseases

  • To review imaging features of inflammatory pancreatic diseases and how to use imaging modalities appropriately
  • To detail the most relevant pathology findings that may help understand imaging signs of malignancy in solid and cystic tumours
  • To review imaging features and pitfalls in interpretation of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and to understand the relative role of imaging modalities available for staging
  • To describe radiological features of tumour recurrence including common pitfalls and to learn which modern imaging techniques are most useful for follow-up of pancreatic adenocarcinoma
  • To describe imaging features and differential diagnosis of cystic pancreatic lesions and to explain how patients with cystic pancreatic lesions should be managed and followed-up.
  • To provide interactive discussions based on clinical cases that may help in daily practice
