5th ASEAN Regional Union of Psychological Societies (ARUPS) Congress
Dear delegate,
On behalf of Singapore and the Singapore Psychological Society, we warmly welcome you to the 5th ARUPS Congress to be held in Singapore from 26 to 27 March 2015.
With its theme on ‘Professionalising Psychology: Raising the Standard of Psychology in Nation-Building’, this conference promises to be another exciting opportunity for academics and professionals alike to share their perspectives about the roles and contributions of psychology in ASEAN. We therefore welcome international as well as regional delegates to the 5th ARUPS Congress to present their research and ideas. Unique to the forthcoming event in Singapore will be a students’ research track, where tertiary students will have a rare opportunity to share and critique research on an international platform.
2015 will also be the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence. Besides being located at the cross-roads traditional trade routes, delegates will also be able to partake in the festivities that will mark this milestone in our city-state’s history.
We look forward to seeing you in Singapore soon!
Yours sincerely,
Ms Clare Yeo
President
Singapore Psychological Society
Dear colleagues and friends
It is my pleasure to invite you to Singapore in 2015 for the 5th ARUPS Congress.
The ARUPS Congress is an important platform for psychologists and academicians across the region to come together, learn from one another and share ideas about how we can move forward together in this region.
These are exciting times for psychology in South East Asia. The field is expanding rapidly as we see huge growth in the number of university students choosing to study psychology, and an increasing variety of organisations choosing to employ psychology graduates.
There is a growing realisation in the region among governments, corporate organisations and the general public that psychology can play an important role in the development and growth of people in this region.
To maintain this momentum and to ensure that the field of psychology will continue to be of significance in the future, it is important that we find ways to raise and sustain our level of professionalism.
Therefore, I congratulate the Singapore Organising Committee on choosing such an appropriate and relevant theme for our congress.
I would like to issue a special challenge for those who plan to present papers at this congress. Make it a point to link up with researchers and practitioners from other ASEAN countries and present a symposium together. This spirit of transnational collaboration is what the ARUPS congress is about.
Once again let me invite all of you who have an interest in psychology, academics, and students, practitioners, to come and join us in Singapore for this momentous event. I promise that the experience will be worth your while.
