Welcome to Berlin
The fifth biennial ESES Workshop will focus on thyroid cancer surgery. Among endocrine diseases thyroid cancer is the most frequent malignancy and has gained in importance due to not only its increased incidence, especially papillary carcinomas, but also to the increased awareness of lymph node surgery.
We prepared several workshops dealing with differentiated and medullary thyroid cancer, and the extent of surgery for low and high risk cancers. Similar to the previous ESES workshop, we have prepared consensus presentations for each topic and will discuss them extensively with all participants. The papers will be published in Langenbeck’s Archives of Surgery. Moreover, the workshop offers submission of free papers and posters, and will present state of the art lectures concerning special aspects of thyroid cancer surgery. The highlight of the meeting will be the keynote lecture “Risk stratification for PTC and FTC”.
On behalf of the local organizing committee of the ESES Workshop 2013 it is a great pleasure for us to invite you to Berlin and to the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Academy of Sciences) which is the venue of the workshop.
We hope very much that, in addition to the scientific program, you will enjoy the informal reception during the poster party on Thursday, May 23, 2013, and the dinner on Friday evening will. The dinner will take place at the famous “Käfer” restaurant on the top of the German Parliament (“Reichstag”) with its marvellous view over the entire city.
Berlin is an exciting European city! We are convinced that, in addition to the congress, Berlin will be a highly attractive reason for coming.
We wish to invite you to a most enjoyable stay in Berlin and to a successful workshop.
