On behalf of the Finnish Neuropsychological Society and the local organizing committee of the congress, I am glad to invite you to the beautiful city of Tampere in September 2015. The 5th Conference of the European Societies of Neuropsychology and the 12th Nordic Meeting in Neuropsychology with an interesting and diverse scientific programme will be held in Tampere Congress Hall.

Our main topic, “The Brain in Action – Life-long development” gives a broad insight to the active development and plasticity of the brain. There will be topics on the challenges and plasticity of neural growth and maturation, specific learning difficulties, diagnostics and rehabilitation. Research and clinical work related to adulthood and working brain will also be presented diversely. Life-long development includes also the themes related to aging brain – both normal and exceptional development paths. The keynote speakers presented on the following page, will represent interesting new research branches from Europe and Australia.

Our aim is to bring together the researchers and the clinicians in the fields of child and adult neuropsychology, and foster the interaction between actors on these fields. To achieve this aim, there will be three days full of interesting, current topics directed to both researchers and clinicians. The scientific and social discussion will continue with two evening programmes in the unique atmosphere of Tampere.

Please take note that hotel reservations are to be done via the online registration form (operated by TAVI Congress Bureau) in order to benefit from the special rates. All prices are per room per night and include VAT, breakfast is included in Hotels –not in Dream Hostel.

To guarantee your hotel reservation, a deposit of one night’s room rate is to be paid in advance together with the registration fee. The deposit will be forwarded to the hotel and it will be deducted from your final hotel bill when checking out.

If you are two people sharing a double room, you both indicate the reservation on the registration form but only one participant needs to pay the hotel deposit, the other participant voids the deposit by ticking the option “I share a previously reserved double room”. Please, remember to indicate on the registration form the name of the person you are sharing a room with.

Submission Info

Posters: Poster sessions will be organized around selected themes. Each poster presenter will be provided with a panel onto which the poster can be mounted. The panel size will be provided later. All the materials needed for the mounting will be provided. The posters should have a title, and should state the authors and their affiliations. The authors are requested to stay with their posters during the session, at a later designated time. Please be prepared to distribute handouts of your poster.

Oral papers: Oral paper sessions will be organized around selected themes. Four to five individually submitted abstracts will be chosen for each paper session. Each abstract will be allotted 10-20 minutes for oral presentation and audience discussion. The exact schedule will be provided later. A moderator will rigorously adhere to these time limits to allow time for discussion.

Symposia sessions:  Symposia are topical platform sessions that deal with specific issues in neuropsychology. These sessions are distinct from paper sessions in that a symposium is submitted as an integrated presentation after being pre-arranged by a single organizer who will act as chair of the proposed session. Symposia should consist of three to five closely linked and integrated abstracts, each ranging from 15-20 minutes. Symposia sessions are allotted approximately 1.5 hours and should include a review led by the symposium organizer or a discussant.  ESN strongly encourages creating sessions with international presenters.

The symposium chair is responsible for coordinating submission of the complete symposium proposal, for submitting the symposium summary abstract, and for making sure all supporting abstracts will also be submitted. The symposium summary abstract should include a short description of the session topic as well as the titles of all supporting abstracts and the names of the presenters. From the list of themes provided, all symposium presenters should select ‘Submitted symposium’.

The exhibition stands are located in the Park foyer and the Small Auditorium’s foyer in the 2nd floor. The exhibition stands are booked on a first come -first serve basis. The posters will be placed in the foyers and coffee will be served there during coffee breaks.
