The UC San Diego School of Medicine and the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center invite you to attend the 7th Annual UC San Diego Urology Postgraduate Course: Evidence-Based Urology Update. This year's course will be held March 14-15, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay and will host a distinguished group of local and visiting faculty.

This 2-day course is designed to offer the participant the most up to date evidence for the management of select urologic conditions. Diagnostic and management tools continue to advance in urology, requiring the practicing clinician to remain current on the most cutting-edge strategies available to improve patient outcomes. This focused set of lectures and a live surgery session will emphasize the practical evidence-based application of the most recent literature from world-renowned experts in the field. To further maximize the educational content, the AUA is providing a standalone (optional) 1-day hands-on ultrasound course leading to certification on March 13.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes urologists, trainees and allied health professionals who seek to gain a greater understanding of new and current evidence-based approaches to urologic care and practitioners who wish to better understand the impact of healthcare reform and safety on clinical practice.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Apply knowledge acquired on evidence-based approaches to urologic malignancy including prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers
  • Assess new approaches to treat patients with acute and chronic urologic injury
  • Interpret and apply the latest medical and surgical treatments for lower urinary tract symptoms in men
  • Apply knowledge gained to the management of conditions affecting men's health
  • Explain how the Affordable Care Act and other system changes will affect the practice of urology and apply practice improvements to provide safer and more efficacious care
  • Determine the urologic implications in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Recognize the latest evidence-based knowledge regarding the management of stone disease
