Announcing the The 7th Canadian Conference on Dementia - A Must-Attend Event!

Welcome to the 7th Canadian Conference on Dementia which will be held in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Oct. 3-5, 2013. The 7th CCD organizing committee has put together an exciting program that has attracted a world renowned faculty of national and international speakers, featuring plenary and parallel sessions, a stimulating debate, interactive workshops as well as oral and poster research presentations.

In addition to an exceptional learning experience, the 7th CCD provides many opportunities for networking. Join us for the opening reception, meals, and an evening of fun and entertainment at the 7th CCD Gala.

Be sure not to miss the 7th CCD’s opening session on the evening of Thursday, October 3rd. Dr. Nina Kraus, Northwestern University, will address the impact of music on the aging brain. Dr. Peter Whitehouse, Case Western Reserve University, will discuss the arts as a therapeutic modality. The evening will close with a specially edited version for the 7th CCD of the documentary titled "Mind Alive" produced by Michael Rosatto-Bennett. This outstanding documentary explores the impact of individualized music playlists on nursing home residents.

Be part of the action, by submitting an abstract to the 7th CCD scientific committee and share your research with your colleagues. Abstracts will be considered for both oral and poster presentations. A $500.00 prize will be awarded to the author of the best abstract! This year, we will be offering extended poster sessions to facilitate knowledge exchange between researchers and clinicians. Submission Info

You will be contacted by August 26, 2013 if your abstract submission has been accepted. All abstracts will be presented as posters. The scientific committee will choose 5 posters for oral presentations during the conference. 

Regulations and Procedures for Abstract Submission:

1. Abstract submitters must be registered participants of the 7th CCD in order for their submission(s) to be reviewed. 

2. All abstract submissions must be made by the authors of the abstract. 

3. Authors may offer more than one abstract for submission. 

4. Presenting authors must be fully-paid CCD registrants. Abstracts attributed to presenting authors not registered by August 26, 2013 will be considered withdrawn. 

5. Abstracts must be 500 words or less. Scientific characters are acceptable. Diagrams and graphs will not be accepted. To upload your presentation, please follow the instructions on teh submission form. 

6. All abstracts are to be submitted online. Please refer to the information below. 

7. All those who submit must certify that their abstract is an original work and has not been, and will not be, published in a Canadian Journal prior to the 7th CCD. 

8. All abstracts that are approved will be presented as posters during the CCD poster session. Oral presentations are 10 minutes in duration. 

9. The official language of the 7th CCD is English. Translation services will not be provided.
