The 7th Medication Safety Conference will once again build on improving patient safety in the region. Supported by Abu Dhabi Health Service Company PJSC (SEHA), this highly anticipated event will take place on November 7th - 9th, 2014 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Last year’s 6th instalment of the Medication Safety Conference has introduced a ‘Pharmacy Practice’ stream to run alongside the  Medication Safety stream of the conference. It added an exceptional value to the conference scientific programme and brought a group of worldwide experts and leaders in the field of medication safety to Abu Dhabi.

Based on the sound success of previous Medication Safety Conferences, the 7th Medication Safety Conference expects to attract over 1000 delegates devoted to Patient safety and in particular, medication safety best practices. Featuring an exhibition showcasing the latest in pharmaceutical advancements and innovations, the conference will be a ground for interaction for healthcare professionals, including, but not limited to; pharmacists, medical and nursing staff, hospital management, healthcare quality professionals and pharmaceuticals industry.

Citizens of Australia, Andorra, Austria, Brunei, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America and the Vatican State can get a free-of-charge entry visa upon arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE.

Citizens of all other countries will need to apply for a Tourist, Transit or Visit Visa prior to their trip. If you are flying with Etihad Airways or Emirates Airlines, a visit visa may be arranged for you upon request. If you have booked your trip through a travel agency, in most cases they will be able to arrange this for you.

Five, four and three star hotels can apply for visas on behalf of guests who have booked a stay with them. Please note that not all five, four and three star hotels have this system in place. Make sure you check with your preferred hotel if they offer this service. This service does not currently apply to guests staying in hotel apartments.

While the airline, travel agency and hotel can apply for your visa, please make sure you give yourself enough time for it to be approved, and note that they do not take responsibility if the visa is declined.

Otherwise, you will need to apply for a visa through your nearest UAE embassy. An eye scan will be required at the airport.

To have your abstract evaluated for presentation at Conference, you must submit your abstract no later than September 3rd, 2014. Any abstract received after this date will not be reviewed.

Oral and Poster presentations: General Terms and Conditions:
4 abstracts will be selected for oral
Oral presentations will include a 15-minute presentation by one of the abstract authors. Presenters will be limited to a maximum of 15 slides.
All oral presentations will be followed by questions from the audience. Oral Presentations will be a length of 15 minutes with an additional 5 minute Question and Answer panel, including all presenters, following the final oral presentation. 
Posters will be presented on the both days of the conference. Authors will be assigned a time period during which they are expected to be with their poster to answer questions from meeting attendees. 
  Posters must be 59 cm width x 84 cm length   
Abstracts should be 250 words in length excluding list of references.     
Any pharmaceutical acronyms in the title must be spelled out.                                      
Authors must demonstrate that rigorous scientific .
Authors must demonstrate whether or not the research conducted was in any way supported by commercial organizations, including any grants or in-kind donations.
Do not include acknowledgements or brand names in abstract.
If your abstract is selected and you wish to present, one of the abstract authors will be required to register for the event before October 16th, 2014 after which your presentation will be cancelled; registering for the event is a separate and independent process.
Letters regarding the acceptance/rejection will be emailed to the presenting author by October 2nd, 2014. Rejected abstracts will not be reconsidered.
Abstracts submitted on paper or by fax will not be accepted.
Abstracts without clear relevance to the event's learning objectives will not be reviewed or considered
An author may submit up to two (2) abstracts. Any additional abstracts will not be reviewed.


Criteria for a successful abstract: Common Reasons for Rejection:
Presentation Balance: Abstracts should not promote commercial services, companies or products.
Relevance: Abstracts should provide material that is relevant to the conference’s learning objectives and suggested topics above.
Scientific Quality: Abstracts should provide a detailed description of the scientific methods employed during your research (purpose, methods, results, conclusion)
Appropriate Use of Language: Abstracts should be presented using scientific terminology and maintaining clarity.
Resulting Impact on Patient Safety: Clearly state how your research benefits patient safety.

Lack of originality in research
Lack of sufficient data
Poor explanation of methodologies employed during research
