Submission Info
The educational program for the 84th American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Annual Scientific Meeting will include the presentation of scientific data in general and subspecialty section sessions as oral presentations and electronic posters. Abstracts submitted for the 84th AANS Annual Scientific Meeting are peer-reviewed and scored on scientific merit, originality and the relevancy to the field of neurosurgery. Although scientific data is important, the quality of the abstract is the primary determinant for acceptance by the AANS Scientific Program Committee. Accepted abstracts are assigned to be presented as either an oral presentation or electronic poster.

The main abstract center is closed as of 5 p.m. CDT on Oct. 26, 2015. However, abstracts that meet the criteria for late-breaking abstracts may still be submitted.

Submission Period:
Jan. 6 - March 2, 2016. The submission portal closes at 5 p.m. CDT on March 2, 2016.
Criteria for Late-breaking Abstract Submissions
The research is limited to highly significant and timely research that was not available by the Oct. 26, 2015 submission deadline.
Only abstracts that are deemed to be of high scientific priority and which merit presentation in as part of the late-breaking abstract category.
Late-breaking abstracts cannot be a revision of an abstract previously submitted for the 2016 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.
Late-breaking abstracts must not have been submitted, presented, accepted for presentation or published in any other scientific venue.
Standards for accepting late-breaking abstracts for presentation are much higher than those required for abstracts accepted for the general scientific sessions.
Guidelines for Late-breaking Abstract Submissions
Authors may submit only one abstract for a late-breaking session.
An abstract may only be submitted to the 2016 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting once. Duplicate abstracts (reporting the same data) that are submitted under a different author will not be considered.
