President's Message
It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I cordially invite you to the 9th International Symposium on Advances in Legal Medicine (ISALM), to be held in Fukuoka, Japan from the 16th to the 20th of June, 2014. The last ISALM in Frankfurt/Main, Germany was a great success and we strive to continue the tradition of excellence here in Fukuoka.
ISALM brings together scientific professionals from all over the world to present on topics such as forensic medicine, toxicology, pathology, and genetics. The triennial symposium is a joint effort from the Japanese Association of Legal Medicine and the German Society of Legal Medicine. The focus of the 2014 symposium will be mass disasters, but many other topics of interest will be included. The official language of the conference is English.
Fukuoka City is the capital and most populous city in Fukuoka Prefecture, and is located on the northern coast of the island of Kyushu. Fukuoka was ranked the world's 12th most liveable city in the July 2013 issue of Monocle magazine. It is Japan's 6th largest city with a population of around 1.5 million, and is known for its seamless mix of modernism, nature, tradition, and culture. For those who have never visited Japan, this is a perfect opportunity to experience all that this wonderful country has to offer.
My colleagues and I are sincerely looking forward to welcoming you to ISALM 2014 in Fukuoka, Japan.

Shin-ichi Kubo, MD, PhD
President, ISALM 2014
