Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the ISPPD Board and the ISPPD Scientific Organizing Committee it is with great pleasure that INCLEN Trust International- welcomes you to the 9th International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Disease to be held in Hyderabad, India from March 9 to 13, 2014.  This conference, convened biannually since 1998, has been held in countries around the world; ISPPD-9 marks the first time this Symposium is being held in Asia.

The ISPPD conference is the pre-eminent pneumococcal meeting globally, bringing together the world’s experts in pneumococcal biology, diagnostics, treatment, and prevention in a multidisciplinary forum to make meaningful strides in the effort to reduce the burden of disease from this pathogen. It offers an extraordinary opportunity for scientists, clinicians, academics, public health, industry and policy experts— and very importantly, students— from Asia and around the world to share new knowledge, develop collaborations and learn from each.  The influence of the knowledge exchange from this conference is seen through public health policy, medical practice standards for treatment and prevention and new research directions.

The Scientific Organizing Committee for ISPPD-9 brings together an international group of pneumococcal experts working to deliver the highest quality scientific program and the best ISPPD conference yet.  We aim to build on the successes and learnings of the past eight symposia with a dedication above all to the highest quality scientific content offered in formats that are dedicated to discussing results, questioning each other, and sharing ideas.

As always, the scientific program will delve into pneumococcal biology, disease, treatment and prevention—this is a conference spanning basic science, human host-pathogen interactions, through to policy decision making.  It is a conference about the very latest achievements, emerging controversies and lingering hurdles in the pathway to controlling the consequences of pneumococcal disease on individuals and communities.   The conference is organized around ten session topics each of which includes state-of-the-art lectures, oral presentations and poster presentations in both short oral format and poster hall format.

Along with our colleagues and partners here in India, we are delighted and honored to welcome you, the local and international ISPPD-9 delegates, to Hyderabad an ancient city at the cross-roads of north and south India.  The ‘City of Pearls’ is infused with a fascinating history and now plays a leading role on the edge of technology innovation.   ISPPD-9 promises to be a fascinating scientific meeting at a world class, state of the art conference facility in a setting that will not disappoint.

It is with great honor and anticipation that we welcome you to “Incredible India”.

Warmly,

Narendra Arora
