Event Overview
Welcome message:

On behalf of the Abdominal Radiology Group of Australia and New Zealand (ARGANZ), I warmly invite you to join us at the 10th ARGANZ meeting on 24th- 25th March, 2018 at the Crown Promenade Hotel, Southbank, Melbourne.

We are delighted to have two international speakers joining us to share their expertise. Prof. Anwar Padhani is a world leader in Prostate imaging and whole body diffusion MRI. He is a member of the PI-RADS committee and recognised as an outstanding teacher and lecturer. Prof. Paul Sidhu is immediate past-President of the British Medical Ultrasound Society and a sought after lecturer. He is an expert in the use of ultrasound with a current focus on the many roles of contrast enhanced ultrasound. They will be joined by a strong Australasian faculty to deliver a high quality program.

Following success at the Sydney meeting, we will run concurrent sessions on Saturday allowing more in-depth coverage of some topics. Friday workshops will be available for conference delegates with limited places in whole day workshops. In 2018 we will offer concurrent basic and advanced workshop rooms, but be sure to register early as these places fill quickly.

The Mendelson Research Prize will be expanded to include a paper poster section, with the winning oral presentation receiving a trip to ESGAR. Trainees can also attend the ‘hot seat’ School of ARGANZ breakfast session with abdominal examiners.

Please check this page regularly to keep up to date with the latest program developments.

I encourage you to join us for ARGANZ 2018 to further your knowledge in abdominal imaging.

On behalf of the committee, I look forward to seeing you in Melbourne.

Dr. Kirsten Gormly

Editorial Guidelines for Abstract Submission

The ARGANZ Executive Committee invites all RANZCR radiology registrars and fellows in training to submit an abstract for the ARGANZ 2018 Meeting.  Poster submissions are acceptable from non-RANZCR registrars, but please note that they will not be eligible for oral presentation or the Mendelson Research Prize.

The purpose of the Mendelson Research Prize for RANZCR registrars is to promote abdominal imaging and ARGANZ to radiology trainees, offer a supportive environment for trainees to present their research and provide an up-to-date and entertaining education session for delegates.

RANZCR radiology registrars and training fellows are invited to submit an abstract to ARGANZ, outlining an original research project relevant to abdominal imaging. Abstracts are limited to 500 words and must be presented in standard format comprising: introduction; methods; results; conclusion. Trainees are able to submit multiple abstracts.

Abstracts are to be submitted via the presentation portal utilising the .doc or .docx template (below) by Sunday 14 January 2018. You will be required to enter an abstract title, preferred presentation type (oral or poster), authors and their affiliations, prize application, and a short biography of the presenting author including place and year of training before uploading the abstract document. Please have this information ready before accessing the portal.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the ARGANZ executive and a maximum of 6 will be selected for oral presentation. Trainees whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentation are required to register for ARGANZ 2018 and will be eligible to win the prize for best trainee presentation. The prize is airfare*, registration and accommodation** to ESGAR 2018 or 2019. The runner up will be awarded free registration to ARGANZ 2019. Trainees will be notified about abstract acceptance by Wednesday 31 January 2018.

Abstracts which are not chosen for oral presentation, may be offered the opportunity to present a paper poster but will not be eligible for prize consideration. All poster presenters must also be registered for ARGANZ 2018.
