Annual Conference Of Indian Rheumatology Association (IRACON 2018)
IRACON moves for the 1st time to the Northeastern part of the India. Welcome to Guwahati, “the gateway to the North-East India”. It is the largest city in Assam and Northeast India, a major reverine port city and one of the fastest growing cities in India. It is situated between the banks of the Brahmaputra River and the foothills of the Shillong plateau. The ancient cities of Pragjyotishpura (Guwahati) and Durjaya (North Guwahati) were the capitals of the ancient state of Kamrupa under the Varman and Pala dynasties. Many ancient Hindu temples are in the city, giving it the name “City of Temples”.
Guwahati’s myths and history go back several thousands of years. Although the exact date of the city’s beginning is unknown, references in the epics, Puranas and other traditional histories of India, lead many to assume that it is one of the ancient cities of Asia. Epigraphic sources place the capitals of many ancient kingdoms in Guwahati. It was the capital of the kings Narakasura and Bhagadatta according to the Mahabharatha.
Now Guwahati is an important and happening city because of the centre’s “Act East Policy” and it is developing at rapid pace.
The weather in Guwahati in December will be pleasant with approximately 24C & 10C being maximum & minimum average temperatures respectively.
The theme of the conference is “Unravelling the complexity in Rheumatology: from Basic to application”. Rheumatology, ”the last fort of clinical medicine “ as it is called is a complex subject. Unlike other medical specialties, most of the Rheumatological diseases involve multiple organs. Therefore a good clinical knowledge about the diseases is utmost important for care of the patients suffering from this kind of diseases. And this is the era of precision medicine. For every disease, new target oriented therapies are coming every year. Still there are many unmet needs and there is still a long way to go for the ultimate goal for each patient-“cure”. Hence we need to update the basics about the diseases also to choose the best available therapy for the patient and try to meet these unmet needs
Therefore, please save the dates, register early and join us in our march to take forward the knowledge of Rheumatology to greater heights and to the remotest corners of our nation.
