On behalf of the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society I invite you to attend the 23rd ANZBMS Annual Scientific Meeting at the Hilton on the Park, Melbourne, Australia between September 8–11, 2013. This meeting will continue with ANZBMS mission to deliver an forum of excellence hosting internationally and locally acclaimed experts in the field of bone and mineral research. We are delighted to that Prof Roland Baron and Prof Clifford Rosen will be our keynote attendees at this meeting. The meeting program themes are: evidence-based skeletal medicine, molecular insights and novel therapeutic interventions. These will be intertwined with our overarching goals to foster research collaboration, inform best clinical practice and facilitate networking of early career researchers.

Invited Speakers
• Prof Roland Baron (Department Head and Professor of Oral Medicine, Infection and Immunity, Harvard School of Dental Medicine AND Professor of Internal Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Massachusssetts General Hospital, Boston USA), to speak on recent developments in osteoporosis therapy, including targetting of sclerostin, cathepsin K and Dkk1 signalling, as well as speaking on new basic research in osteoblast and osteoclast biology.
• Dr Clifford J Rosen (Director of Clinical and Translational Research, Maine Medical Center, USA), to speak on the relationships between glucose metabolism, adipogenesis and bone, and vitamin D deficiency.

Submission Requirements and Process
- All abstracts must be formatted according to the instructions below.
- All abstracts must be submitted electronically (online) as a Microsoft Word file.
- Prepare your abstract and have it ready to submit before you enter the Abstract Submission & Award Application Form. Make sure your abstract file is not open on your computer when you try to submit it or an error will occur.
When you submit your abstract online, you will be asked to:
- Indicate whether your abstract is for oral or poster presentation*
- Indicate the main topic or area of interest related to your abstract
- Complete a "Disclosure of Financial Relationships and Consent" statement (see below).
- Optional: apply for one or more of the Awards/Grants in relation to the abstract you are submitting.
*A presenter who indicates a preference for an oral presentation should also be willing for the abstract to be considered as a poster. While every attempt will be made to program abstracts according to the requests of authors, oral presentations cannot be guaranteed.
Editorial Guidelines for Presented Content:
Overall Format Requirements
- Abstracts must be typed in English 10 point Times New Roman font.
- Use the Symbol font for Greek and Scientific symbols that don't display in Times New Roman.
- Abstracts must contain the aims of the study, methods, results and conclusion.
- Abstracts may include a simple table or figure.
- Abbreviations should be used only for common terms (for uncommon terms, the abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word).
- Abstracts must not exceed 250 words, excluding title, authors and institution. References should be used sparingly, if at all.
The Abstract Document
- The first paragraph of your abstract document must be the abstract title, in bold.
- Do not include author or affiliation information in the document. This will be entered separately to allow for author-blinded review of abstracts.
- You can download this template to use as the base for your abstract.
