Event Overview
Welcome message:

On behalf of the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs, we are pleased to invite you to join us in Adelaide for the 2014 APSAD Conference.

This year’s conference theme, The times they are a changin’ was chosen by the Scientific Program Committee to reflect the changing times and increased pressures faced by the drug and alcohol sector. Clinical and non-clinical research is also dramatically increasing our understanding of dependence, prevention and treatment. Now is the time to come together and celebrate the achievements of our sector in beautiful Adelaide.

The conference, to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre from Sunday 9 – Wednesday 12 November 2014, will feature an exciting program of international and national speakers, focusing on new treatments, prevention and policy in the areas of drug and alcohol research. With original and innovative work from the field, the program will encourage alternative presentation styles.

The Poster Session will continue to be a core event of the APSAD Conference in 2014. Selected abstracts, from research to clinical, from all disciplines, will be presented by colleagues from across Australasia and the world. The poster session offers the perfect platform for delegates to see and discuss achievements, ideas and developments face-to-face. In conjunction with the poster session, Poster Tours will be run. Keynote speakers will select the posters that best demonstrate quality research and clinical practice and conduct small group discussions of their chosen posters.

The conference location, Adelaide, offers a picturesque setting with heritage streetscapes, charming buildings and eye catching public art. Widely recognised as the 20-minute city, Adelaide is easy to get to, easy to get around and easy to love. Recently voted one of the world’s top 10 cities to visit because of its fine dining, stunning beaches and access to the outback, the conference will provide a great opportunity to explore this world class destination. The multi-award winning Adelaide Convention Centre has a global reputation for excellence and is consistently ranked amongst the world’s top convention centres. Delegates will not be disappointed by this welcoming coastal city and renowned convention centre.

From the APSAD Council and the Scientific Program Committee we hope you are able to join us in Adelaide, South Australia for the 2014 APSAD Conference.

We look forward to seeing you there!
