INVITATION FROM THE SCIENTIFIC CONVENORS

Superstition, dogma and science: The scientific program for the FPM and ANZCA ASM invites you to critically examine our practice and reflect on these elements in all that we do. Are we creatures of habit? Are we as open to change as we think? Can we justify and explain the choices we make every day?

We have embraced this theme by developing a diverse scientific program to be delivered by an exceptional group of world-renowned anaesthetists and pain specialists, in conjunction with many other outstanding medical specialists, scientists and non-medical professionals. We will engage you in an appraisal of our practice with a strong focus on finding and being guided by the science in our profession.

Our Australasian and international invited speakers will lead you on this journey balancing the philosophical with the practical, reflecting on the past and imagining our future. We will showcase the strengths of our specialty through these highly respected champions and support their teaching with dynamic workshops and small group discussions. The flexibility and scheduling of the program will allow you to choose your own adventure and create the conference experience that you seek.

We invite you to bring an open mind and look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne in 2013.
